Interior Overhaul Incoming

Alright guys, I think I'm going to completely redo my interior. I am planning on painting everything black, changing from the stock graphite interior. I will probably hold off on doing the seats for now, as I'm not sure how to paint them, or if I want to just swap em to 04+ seats. When I say everything, I mean every single piece of interior trim that can come out of the car. I will also probably order black carpet, and get a new headliner.

Has anyone attempted this on this forum?

Also, how do you get the main portion, the bulk of the dash off? The part the HUD is attached to.

I would also like to get some yellow accents in the interior, but I don't want to go overboard, just a couple things in a nice deep yellow. I may even stick one of the external GTP badges on passenger side of the dash with yellow overlays. (got the idea from a Lamborghini Diablo I saw that had the Lamborghini logo on the dash in yellow.)

If anyone has any tips, tricks or advice let me know - I've never painted anything before.

Thanks!

Yup been there done that.

Using a good paint is key as well as prep. Use SEM products... And don't complain about the cost vs cheap products like Duplicolor because you really get what you pay for.

That looks really good man, how would you go about prepping the interior pieces? Should they be sanded even though they are textured from the factory, and did you use a primer?

You're definitely gonna want to at least scuff up the panels with a scotchbrite pad and then use an adhesion promoter before applying any paint.

Sem sells a plastic cleaner and prep spray. Wash it.. Then wetsand with 800g.. Then adhesion promotor.

All the SEM products are great. Body shop quality basecoat is another option, its what shops with paint mixing machines use for interiors. Basecoat just like the exterior but without clearcoat. Its recommended by paint manufacturers, warrantied, and is the highest quality choice if you have access. For added UV protection and to alter the gloss level, clearcoat hardener from the same system can be added in a tiny percentage.

Grey or white scotch brite pad would be my prep choice. Similar "grit" to 800 wet but reaches into the textured areas better.
