Very occasional hesitation before OD?

Well, this has been an issue for a short while now and I'm interesting in selling my car and want to know how serious it is: When the car is cold it won't shift into overdrive, but I'm thinking this is by design. However, once everything is warmed up, it occasionally won't get into OD after coming from a stop. When this happens it drives normally in 3rd gear and then after maybe a half a mile it'll go into overdrive. It's fairly infrequent.

Trans fluid looks good and all other gears work fine.

Ideas?

My car does the same thing when it is cold. When I get on the road to go to school, it seems like the RPMs are higher than usual. Then it warms up and will shift into the last gear and it feels normal again. As for the other thing, I am not sure.

Overdrive is delayed and also converter lockup is also delayed until set parameters in the PCM program are met during warmup. This is one of the things done to get the vehicle to "warm up" faster and help heat up "light off" the catalytic converter.

its normal when cold to not go into od.

your car wont engage od till 43 to 45 mph too, 3 rd wont lock up till 30 ish. sounds kinda normal.

Well, the cat has been programmed out so I don't think that's it.

I have an overkill tune and it doesn't seem to engage OD until after 50mph. Not sure if the two are related, but that's just how it is.
