Help with differences in 04-05 suspension vs 97-03 & 06+

My stock/factory untouched 06 has link to strut LCA's
Edit: It is an early build date car also

Supposedly 2006 was a transition year.

I'd like to see some proof that 06-08 LCAs converted back to the old style control arms, because I've yet to see it myself. To my knowledge, all 04-08 Grand Prixs were link-to-strut up front, same as 05-09 Allure/Lacrosse, while 06+ Impala/Monte Carlo continued to be link-to-lca style.

Best pic I could get with the tire on and on the ground.

PS Don't mind all the damn salt and grime.

Poster claims the vehicle is a 2007 Pontiac Grand Prix GT.

yes i have read somewhere years ago that 06 was still in transition early on so that prob why some select cars dont have the setup... but im most def sure that all 07-08 have the older style setups

From what I've seen not all the 06 had them. But many of them do. It could be early models got the left over LCA but who really knows GM does things in a way we will never understand. That's why I always advise guys to take the 2 mins to look at their set ups and see which style that they have before they go off and order something they may or may not need.

Ditto-I ordered a left and right LCA from Amazon which was supposed to be for my 2004, I've got the car up in the air, wheels off and open the clearly marked boxes(one Rh, one Lh) and have two Lh LCA's. Back they go with considerable swearing. The new set is the same-both Lh. Finally, a Lh and a Rh arrive, the car is in the air and... the LCA's are for the 03 and older, not the 2004! Make sure and consider the whole set up if you are trying to modify or improve your car...

Well the extra sway bar things on the LCAs shouldn't hurt anything its mostly for when you go to get struts. I must be lucky my LCAs came right with left and right side when ordered from amazon not two lefts or rights

I bought the OEM AC Delco FE3 struts, which are for 04/05 Comp-G so they *will* have the strut bracket. The Dorman 33mm bar I bought for the 06 *IS* an LCA mount sway bar. So the 2006 LCAs *should* have the tabs on them.

Either way, I think I'm good.

I just installed 2003 Lower Control Arms and quick strut assemblies on my 2008 last night and everything was fine. Sway bar is linked directly to tab on LCA as stated and pictured above. I also did new sway bar link/bushings and the ones I took off were pretty nasty.

Did your original sway bar on your 08 connect to the lca or to the strut?

I have 2 2006's in the driveway. One came with link to strut, and the other one didn't.
