im in the middle of a diy intake and need some help with two parts.

What do you do with this thing? im not really sure what people have done with it.

Also what do you do with this metal...thing. should i just secure it to the frame?

This is my setup

Blowes or Homo Depot 3" plumbing coupler with a fitted hole for the PCV connection, attached to TB and MAF, then a coupler/extension to add the air filter.

ok thanks drunkie your the bomb. i need to get another extension from the MAF to the filter... is it a no no to drive with out that on.. for me to run to the store and grab the coupler.. or should i put the stock box back on

If it's 04+ make sure you assemble your intake in same sequence as stock. There are a million threads around here about building intakes. Search button and just follow what others have done. Less work that way.

Yea I do but I gotta wait until I get to my computer since I'm on tapatalk right now... I'm so impressed... I mean the engine just sounds like it just has so much more guts. It sounds so much throaty and deep I love it.

finished product... sorry for the extremely dirty engine bay... went 4x4 trying to get up driveways this spring and haven't cleaned it up yet

I still need the coupler from the MAF to the PVC pipe. it was a really tight fit but its not leaking at all so it will last until i can make it to home depot.

I would never use pvc pipe on a diy intake. That **** gets hot!!! Next time after a good drive pop your hood and put your hand on it. I know that's what most people use, but compared to the accordian style tubing that pvc has to be at least 20 degrees hotter..maybe more. When i say accordian i mean after market. Like the silver colored type.

Yea... man to be honest I went for a good 15-20 minute drive and i made a stop just to see how everything was holding up and it was cool-warm to the touch...

My PVC stays cool as can be?

Yeah i'm with you, i've had my same DIY intake on my 3 gp's and i've never had it get that hot, maybe warm, but not hot.

Also, for the OP. I'd have went with a 45deg peice of pipe, rather that 90. There's nothing wrong with the 90deg, but personally, it just looks a little "odd"

Turned out well. Next mod should be matching the UIM with the same colour paint/powdercoat as the dogbones/diagonal bracing. :th_thumbsup-wink:
