• The site migration is complete! Hopefully everything transferred properly from the multiple decades old software we were using before. If you notice any issues please let me know, thanks! Also, I'm still working on things like chatbox, etc so hopefully those will be working in the next week or two.

completely lost on headers.

Ok so I still don't know what to do With headers. I feel like a complete idiot because I keep asking but Idk what to choose. Every header choice it seems like does not come with a catted DP. Even zzp on there website says nothing about coming with a catted down pipe. TOG. Extra 320 on top of 789 for headers. I want headers that will be Legal in the state of Missouri. I need cats. But I'm not trying to break the bank. But seems like every header choice I have has something wrong or something else u need to buy that's pricey

Let's start by eliminating downpipe with the use of headers. There is no more down pipe. Headers merge where the down pipes typically do. So from your headers all you need to do is attach your factory cat to or aftermarket cat. Which is then connected to the rest of the exhaust system

I have a 3 inch zzp down pipe. But I know it can't be used with headers. But arnt the cats on the DP even stock?

Also if I buy speed daddy headers. The 220 priced ones they will eliminate down pipe. Then I'll just need to buy like a 150 dollar 3 inch cat converter?

Steps:
1) Buy SD Headers
2) Buy frozenboost fake cat or a real cat
3) bring to local shop
4) say you want this cat in this pipe
5) pay kind person
6) install freshly catted headers
7) enjoy

Now I could do all that work myself right? If I had a lift. Will fake cat not make me pass emissions? How much are these cats generally? And where do u recommend to buy them

I did a full header install with a set of jackstands. If you can weld then yes you could weld them your self, easy method pay a shop 50 bucks to weld a cat. A fake cat will usually pass a visual inspection it will not pass a PPM meter. I personally do not run any type of emissions except evap.

if you can weld stainless steel sure. but its best to have a good welder weld the cat in for you.

the header install and be done with nothing more then jack stands and some normal hand tools.

fake cat looks like a real cat but is free flow. (for visually inspection) if they only do a obd2 scan and your rear o2 is set to not report you will pass, (or if the fouler trick works for your car) but if they do the tail pipe sniffer test likely you'll fail.

To he clear SD headers that are priced at 220. Come with everything I need except a cat right? Then I can go buy a 3 inch cat converter? I'm still confused

I suggest reading more if you're this lost on headers.

Or have one of the STL guys help.

The headers come with a slip fit piece of pipe that is 3". After the downpipe. You can use the no-cat race pipe they provide, or find a universal converter that is 3", and the same length as the pipe, then bolt that in.

It's pretty simple.

And you'll need the flex re-done once they're installed, because it's crap. You'll also need RTV, and stepped band clamps, because the two bolt u-shaped ones are junk.

So yeah, it's a little more tedious than just buying headers. Also, then you need to figure out what you're gonna do with the EGR. Keep it? Delete it?

Don't if I delete the EGR I won't pass emissions. Blue how much do u think this will cost me? Headers 220$ what do u think cost will add up to with other parts I need

I'm going to tell you it's going to cost way more than double the $220, since you're skeptical and would get hung up on the install, I'm sure.

If you're a capable mechanic and don't have any hiccups, you should be able to do it for $275~.

Also; there are plenty of ways to get around it. One guy already mentioned the fake cat. And the EGR can be tuned out, along with the o2 codes.

Well more than capable of doing install. Brother is certified GM mechanic and other brother has a built 3800 for his lesabre that he put together. Basically how much do u think it's going to cost for parts. Including 220 cost of headers. I want my car to be emissions legal

you can still run the egr if you want, theres a port for it on the headers, just like stock.

or tune the codes out. you can buy a tuned pcm from one of the many vendors. they can make what ever you want to not report, or find a local to do it for you.

What would you recommend if you were me. Keep in mind budget. I'm a college kid haha

I'd delete the stupid EGR; it costs two cents to delete it and the RTV you'll be using on the slip joints and band clamps anyways.

Run a fake converter for $30, since Missouri is just visual, and have the codes tuned out.

really, dont mod it, save your moneys lol

on the other hand people will do as they want, so reuse the egr, its not a big deal. depending on the year car you have has a lot to do with the rear o2 delete or set to not report. you in MO, im sure you could find a local to tune out a code.

If you've already got a DP, then don't bother.

Just save your money.

If you're wanting more "performance" out of it, then just get a tune...intake, DP, tune should be a basement 14's car if everything else is in good shape.

I'd also consider poly mounts, 180* t-stat, a shift kit, and a ported blower to lower temps.

Well the headers won't go on my NA motor. I picked up a 06 sc motor

I've looked up cats and it either shows just a cat and then there is some that has a cat with a pipe almost like a down pipe but it's Straight
