Is there procharger kits for Grand Prix's yet? I have a 2001 Pontiac Grand Prix GT Special Edition with 3.8L. Been thinking about making upgrades to the engine. Have been thinking a lot about the superchargers. Saw an ad in a local magazine for a dyno test and tune shop. They were advertising the prochargers.
 


Prochargers are only a consideration if you're looking for an easier install than a turbo, and can't clear a roots under your hood.

Neither should be options for you, because turboing a 3800 is super easy, and there is room for an M90 and a ~2.25" intercooler under there.

To answer your question, there was a paxton supercharger kit a LONG time ago, long discontinued.

You need to do a lot more reading. A top swap is a factory supercharger swap onto a naturally aspirated motor.

As far as a procharger... You're referring to a centrifugal supercharger. Procharger is a brand, not an item. The Novi 2000 kits were nice, but are hard to find these days. That being said, you could get any Centrifugal Supercharger with your desired power range, and add it to any naturally aspirated motor with a little plumbing and mounting work.

Turbos have potential to make a ton of power, but they are a lot more complicated than tossing on a supercharger of any kind.
 
Top swap all the way, you need the supercharger, lower intake, heads, fuel rail and injectors, and a few other things from a supercharged 3800, and you swap them onto your naturally aspirated block with higher compression. You'll want some exhaust mods done to prevent knock, headers are the best bang for buck.

The only reason I say top swap over turbo is because your stock transmission may stand up to the extra power compared to a turbo setup, but really it comes down to power output. You'll need some hard part upgrades and/or a rebuild regardless if you plan on using it as a DD and want the thing to last a good long time.
