Lowering choices (SSC, B and G or Eibach) Photochoppers needed as well

I know this has been covered a million times but im making a new post about it.

I can't decide on whether to get :th_scratchhead:

ssc lowering springs (1.8 drop front and 1.6 back is what they claim) Most people are happy with this ride.

B and G lowering springs(claims 1.5 front and back) Every B and G car ive seen, seems to be the best amount of drop and are happy with it. (look at Ridin on Chromes car)

Or Eibach which i think is about 1.5 as well

I will be getting gr2 excels but i also want to know what you think of getting agx struts instead. I know they cost more but most people say save your money.

I will also be getting pogo washers and shorter dog bones to aid with all this.

Here are a few pictures of my car and others to show you what ive been looking at. The wheels im using are the 06 GP wheels which are 235/50/17

Eibach ( which also seems to be very low too ) Black one has koni adjustables

Eibach Not sure whose car this is

Another Eibach spring ( he has stock struts in and said its like riding on a rock) I wonder if it would be good with agx adjustables tho?

SSC Springs (some people love em, some people post comments saying it doesnt look lowered enough)

I am new make big threads like this so i apologize in advance if i was supposed to ask permission to use pictures of someones car or if this has been done before .

I think I am leaning toward AGX adjustables and eibach at this point but im still lost and need some input , opinions and personal experience on what you liked or didnt like. Thank you! :th_coffee:

Sigh.

AGX aren't worth it, unless you just want to spend more money for the same feel with maybe slightly less bounce up front.

Shorter dog bones arent needed, only pogo washers and motor mount spacers.

The lower you go, the more harsh the ride will be, no matter the strut.

So you pick the springs, not us. It's your car, not ours.

I will not respond again.

AGXs are a waste.. Guys blows that out as quicker if not quicker then the gr2s. Plus for the price your going to pay for them... Your better off going the diy.. C/O and have the ability to adjust your height and get it set to where you want it... The information is out there just do some searching.. If you still decide to go the spring well that's something you have to decide it's your car not ours so your opinion should be the only one that matters.

Most people agree the AGX's are a waste.

I personally run SSC springs on stock (factory original) struts. Initial drop was just over 1.5" but after about 7k miles they're dropped almost 2" total in the front, and just slightly less in the rear.

SSC springs, 1st day they were on

SSC springs, about 5k on them almost entirely settled, and absolutely filthy

Also, I'm running an SD lip and SpeedDaddy headers (lowest point on the vehicle) and I DD it on some ****ty roads. The ride is decent. Definitely not stock, but not nearly as harsh as I thought it would be. The only time I scrape anything is if I'm going over a tall speed bump, or if I pull too far up over a tall parking spot concrete thing.

So, recap.

Stock worn out struts
SSC Springs
Stock top strut mounts
Anti-pogo washers

Thank you, I always thought your car was sweet and it makes me feel good that you've been running stock struts with the springs. Glad to see the springs have settled to almost 2 inches :) Arent GR2 just a replacement to a factory strut anyways? The previous owner replaced the struts before i got the car and it rides really good. I don't feel they are worn at all, and i just did a few suspension upgrades while it was in the shop (well more like restoring)

So i think right now im leaning toward SSC springs (getting them from CMS for about 179) then just using all my stock stuff that i have and seeing how it goes for starters. I also heard instead of pogowashers from zzp , I can get them from GM if i just say im looking for lower K frame washers. Is this true?

Isn't it best to have shorter dog bones for SD headers?

So when Cam said get motor mount spacers did he mean whatever this half set of vinnie spacers is? Thats the part im not understanding.

I'm going to have to ruin your confirmation. That is my car and it is on GMPP koni's with GMPP springs.

Ridin on Chrome is my long time friend and his car does look great with B&G's. I ran B&G's many years ago with GR2's. Back in 03. The drop is even but the shape of the fenders makes the back look like it sits lower. I didn't like that and that is when I went for the GMPP kit. The GR2's also did not last long with the low drop that the B&G's offer. The fronts wore out faster at about 10K miles. The rears were still ok. The only benefit of the AGX's is that they are adjustable. Neither strut handles a lowering spring that well. The struts that do are the GMPP koni's, which have been discontinued for years and the bilsteins.

I have been happy with the GMPP set up for years. I will never lower my car that low again. The daily drive that low was to jarring. The GMPP koni's have been good for daily driving.

My brother has vogtlands and his drop is similar to mine and the ride is good as well. He daily drives his as well. He went with AGX's as he wanted to have adjustable struts after the GR2's were worn out. He got more mileage out of them being on vogtlands. I think he had 40K miles on the GR2's with vogtlands. The fronts wore out sooner than the rear.

Damn, that gold car is bad ass!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! hahahaha

With that said. I would have to disagree some about GR2 vs AGX..

I first ran my B+G on stock struts.. Was young almost 12 years ago. Rode fine for me for about 2-3 years. Then I started to avoid every crack in the road. It was bad.

Then put GR-2s on. It was great for a year or so but went down hill quick. Also my mounts were gone too, had a clunk in rear like nobody's business....

Next came AGXs and to be honest it still rides sorta stiff but it's more floaty over bumps. Not bad old school Cadillac floaty, just softer I guess. I keep them set 2 all around. I put them at 4 for fun one day. Holy **** was the ride stiff. Felt like I was riding on cut springs.

Dont know the miles on each, but the AGXs have been on the longest as for as time goes.
Keep in mind I'm also am ridin on 245/40/18s

I agree neither of these struts are made for lowering springs. I think the only ones were the old Koni's. Maybe the HD Bilstein, but they suck on those prices.
Would love some coil overs, but hard to justify the price for this 15 year old car.

my 2 cents
