help with oil leak around pan

Hi I have a 2004 GP GT1 and I noticed that I was losing some oil after I was finding little spots in my driveway. I took it to my local garage who are usually good about things and they said that they didn't notice anything out of the ordinary. I find that hard to believe after I went under the car myself and found the whole pan was covered in oil. Even more was at the top of the pan where the bolts/screws connect (I believe there is a gasket there) as those screws are soaked in oil. Is there a gasket there? Am I in the market for a new oil pan? Or is he right and is this normal? attached are a couple pictures that show the leaking.

Classic oil pan gasket seep.

You can clean it all off and see how long it takes to come back if you wanted.

Otherwise it's time for a new gasket, I know the labor on one isnt very cheap.

with a flash light look up past the oil pan on the block, look for a oil trail up to the valve cover, same with the back side. vc leaks can look just like that.

you can also take a clean paprer towel and fold it up and wipe under the lower lip of the valve cover, if it comes back wet with oil you found a leak.
 
That's what mine looked like a month or so ago. I had t replace the gasket and that's not a very fun job. Would you be taking it to a shop to get it changed or doing it yourself? Not fun to do yourself but pretty expensive at a shop to get it done like fivefingerdeathpunch said.
 
I took mine to a shop to have the oil pan gasket replaced and front seal replaced. They had to drop the spindle to remove the oil pan so they had to do an alignment too. I had a leak in an a/c too, just the low pressure orifice. Cost $700 for all.

I'm going to call around tomorrow and see if I can find some prices. It would be about $150 for parts and tool rental so depending on how much places around here (Buffalo) want to charge for labor since I know there's some work that goes into it I am going to make a decision based on price. If its $300-400 I might just have them do it but if it's anything more than that (like $700) I think I would give it a try myself

Do you know how much it would of been just for that alone minus the A/C
 
I looked for my receipt but I couldn't find it. I don't remember what they quoted me before I got it done, either. I also had the oil pan gasket I bought from a parts store too. Best thing would probably be to call around for a quote.
 
Mine is gonzo as well. My engine and trans are coming out this summer for oil pan gasket, cam, front main, rear main, and head gaskets / head studs.
 
Labor time is 4.5 hours. It all depends on what that particular shop charges for the part's, their hourly labor rate, and if they charge a shop charge/disposal fee's. I run a small shop and the shop labor rate is $50/hr. Look for a well recommended independent shop or smaller shop and you will usually get it done for cheaper.
