• The site migration is complete! Hopefully everything transferred properly from the multiple decades old software we were using before. If you notice any issues please let me know, thanks! Also, I'm still working on things like chatbox, etc so hopefully those will be working in the next week or two.

Trojanone1's 1999 Grand Prix SE

Hokay so I have been going over some HID threads and I think I got it narrowed down to VVME or DDM hids with just low beams, I dont us high beams now anyways. Is it a matter of preference? I just want plug and play and not have to mess with wires.

Mostly, I have a vvme kit. Their customer service is non existent when I needed to replace something under warranty.

I didn't like vvme website
You should try contacting them, 4 emails, handful of phone calls and voicemails with never getting a response. Plus they don't have updated warranty information on their site which led to me paying 10 bucks for a new ballast which is ironically the same cost of a new one :th_scratchhead:. OP I would go with TRS or Diode Dynamics over vvme. Diode Dynamics is a bit more expensive but they have a lifetime warranty. I dunno about DDM.

TRS was a third option but I was on their website and got confused on what kit to get. Ill check out diode dynamics. No one answered my previous question: $20 drop in filter or homemade cai for stock N/A better?

Thanks in advance guys.

And as for hids all I gotta do is pull the drl fuse and follow my owners manual to get rid of flashing? Anything else so I dont blow the ballasts?

Umm, I can't remember on my 02 I had to disconnect a something on the driver side. But I think you dont have too. Also there is something you can do to program the car so when you lock/unlock the headlights dont flash also. I saved it but lost it. I vote homemade intake, get the eye sore of a stock box gone.

EDIT: Found it how to disable lights flash when lock/unlocking.

To simplify blackarrows last post, this is what I did;
Here is a way to disable the the headlight flash on the 01-03 models altogether without cutting anything.
Step 1: Remove MALL PGM fuse from passenger fuse block in the glove box
Step 2: Place key in ignition, turn igntion to ON, not start
Step 3: Push LOCK button on key fob. You should hear one (1) chime
Step 4: If you do not hear one (1) chime when you press the lock button, repeat til you do
Step 5: Turn key to OFF position and remove key from ignition
Step 6: Re-install MALL PGM fuse
Step 7: You are done!
Takes all of 5 mins, if that. It just disables all light flashing, but you can still use your key fob.

Alright thanks man. As soon as it warms up and I have some free time, homemade cai, flipped dogbones, and hids will get done. As soon as I make a trip to the local pick and pull, front and maybe rear STBs will soon follow.

Alrighty been awhile since I posted so I figured I'd give an update. I installed some JVC DRVN 6X9 speakers with 5.25s ordered from Best Buy. They were on sale so why not. Not looking for expensive audio just replacement. I plan on replacing my HU as well but does it matter if the HU brand matches my speakers or not?

Also finished my tuneup by replacing both oxygen sensors, as well. Was throwing a code for the rear but figured I'd replace the front as im sure its never been replaced. Installed my front STB today and im mildly impressed. Might pick up another STB from the junk yard and order some Don Rome brackets for the rear. Is the rear worth it or just the front fine?

It doesn't matter, pick what you want. I personally like Kenwood eXelon, ebay has them pretty cheap too. A friend of mine just picked up a X697 for $80, and it sounds great! If you decide to go a little fancy with a double din DVD player keep in mind you might have to do some custom work to the dash bezel to fit it.

Nah dont wanna go double din on this car. Im looking for a low mileage gtp or 06-07 gt so dont wanna throw too much into my current one. I was thinking Kenwood though for brand.
