• The site migration is complete! Hopefully everything transferred properly from the multiple decades old software we were using before. If you notice any issues please let me know, thanks! Also, I'm still working on things like chatbox, etc so hopefully those will be working in the next week or two.

I'm dealing with a spinning image of myself as well, so you and i are in the same boat. haha! I want my kid to learn more about whats posted on this thread(somethings lol) and to have passions for this kind of stuff rather than doing lines and finishing 66's on weekends.

don't worry, man, i've done my fair share of "having fun". you've gotta inform them of that stuff and tell them to take it easy. it's okay to experiment and make sure you get some enjoyment out of life, but you can't mess around with things that are going to have permanent effects on the rest of your life (including questionable choices in women/men).

however, not being an educated, resilient person by the time you're into your 20s is a serious problem. you don't have to have a career and life figured out, you're still young. but what you need to do is strive for more, have a passion for what you do with your time, and be willing to expand your knowledge base (have an open mind, as we've all been told thousands of times). spend a few minutes here and there reading (or watching tv, i suppose) about something that you know nothing about. take up a project or task that you have no idea how to do and force yourself to learn it. don't feel like you can't lean on people either, we all did it. you'll never learn anything having people do things for you or never trying to do new things.

the most successful people out there (including the ones who did it illegally) pushed themselves and made sure that nothing, including themselves, stood in the way of their ambitions and goals.

amen. totally agree.

No, contraceptives don't help in this case. They're already here. And I do believe the government says we can't provide abortions in the 72nd or so trimester.

Anyway, my point is we can complain until we're blue in the face, but a course of action should be devised. Biodude already said he plans on old school discipline. I know I'm all for it...but the kids now...how do we get to them?

I suggest that a group of users on here become the "Noob Police". People who smack them around a little. You know what I'm saying... Make it so if they don't pay their dues with trial and error, or research, then they better come prepared with flame suit.

LMAO. Years ago some other guys and myself were BSing in a chatroom about the influx of idiot users and decided to start a "Noob Police." We even all made customized avatars with "police badges." We kept it going for awhile and then were asked (politely) by the administrator to drop the avatars and back off a little.

A few months later the same admin contacted us and offered us our own user group designation, our own sub-forum, and basic mod powers because the noobiness had become rampant again and he was sick of it. Our new incarnation was called "Damage Control."

The practice worked really well. We had our "haters" but most of them were the idiots we didn't want around anyway. Some of those haters later became useful members of the forum because they realized people weren't going to put up with their crap.
