'97 GTP parts that are not compatible?

I own a 2002 GTP and I just purchased a 1997 GTP as a parts car, and I know that there are some parts that are not compatible with my '02. For example, the '97 has a performance PCM and the seller told me it's not compatible with my '02, so I was wondering if anyone could tell me what other parts are not compatible. Specific parts I am questioning are the cruise control module (or control box or whatever you call it) and the windshield washer fluid pump.

CC shouldn't have changed, I'd assume it will bolt up in the same spot.

The washer pump might be the same design, might wanna hit up a parts store and ask them if the part # are the same.

And you are correct the 97 pcm will not work in a 2002.

99% of the hard parts will swap over no problem. the electronics will be hit or miss with most of them. window switches and such may work, but a hand full of engine sensors wont.

Yeah, I know how to Google stuff. I made this thread because I obviously didn't find the answer I was looking for.

Anyways, what about the gauge cluster in the dash, is that compatible?

only one way to tell, plug it in.

i tried a cluster from a newer year in my regal, it didnt work, well 1/2 of it didnt work.

Haha alright, thanks. Im not even going to bother. I just wanted it because its the one with the white background instead of the stock dark colored one. Not worth the effort to test it.

in that case swap that inlay over, they come apart real easy. and its easy to get them out, pop the trim off on the dash, then its 4 little bolts, and the plug on the back, then un clip around the cluster and it comes open.

What about the transmission? Mine is currently fine but it'd be nice to have an extra just in case. I ask because I know that 2002 is the year they removed the performance shift option so Im not sure if it's compatible? (kinda off topic my current cluster has a "performance shift" light, must have been lazyness on their part and just kept using the same cluster from previous years).

you could use it, may have to swap a shiftier parts over, not the end of the work tho. if yours is a gtp that is, if its just n/a then you would have to have the pcm tuned for the gear change.

dont think so. iterwebs say different. the n/a was a vac operated version.

The
4T65-E was introduced to replace the 4T60-E in 1997. The 4T65-E included a larger 258 mm torque converter for some models and many other changes to improve reliability. It is able to handle vehicles up to 6500 lb (2948 kg) GVWR with up to 280 ft·lbf (380 N·m) of torque. A number of final drive ratios are available, with many distinct models. Starting in mid year 2000 models, all 4T65-E models received an upgraded valve body. Starting in 2003 the internal electronics were changed, hardened 4th gear shaft, ratcheting sprags for input and third gear were added. The last application was the 2011 Chevrolet Impalaas GM has transitioned to the 6T70 family transmissions for 2012.[SUP][1][/SUP]

Idk how many times I have to say it, but the 97 GTP had the 4t65e not the 4t60e. The only difference between the 97 4t65e and the 98+ is the quick disconnects on the cooler lines.

Throttle bodies and MAFs are different 97-98 then 99-03.
Evap setup is different
97 Blower has vac tree
97 DIC will only work in a 97.

^^^^Why is this guy always posting stuff that contradicts what every one else says. The SE and GT 97 models came with 4T60 (vac operated) transmissions. The GTP was the only 97 GP to have the 4T65.
Yesterday he was trying to say that 97-03 model grand prixs have aluminum spindles while everyone else was saying they where steel/iron or whatever. I went out side and put a magnet on mine just for the f*** of it. And guess what the f***ing magnet stuck to it.......or do magnets stick to aluminum now? I suppose you got something to say about why it stuck right l67ss.

Oh and a couple weeks ago you had lucas transmission fluid clog your tranny filter. And lucas fuel system cleaner messed up your carb.

Hey dumbass read the dorman catalogue. If you had ieon spindles that means somewhere along the line ur pos broke a spindle and they put a DORMAN spindle on it. Basically i get tired of missinformation on here. Again troll fail. Next ur gonna say i dont have a mag steer rack in my non mag steer car(i have witnesses onthis forum btw) and wheres ur pics of ur magnet sticking to ur IRON spindle? As you guys say net says otherwiae. And i kno 4t60s and 4t65s well as i just recently 4t65swapped my car. A
