So I finally got the time to start working on the Mustang for those of you who dont know its a 2006 GT 5 spd with 54k miles, Im planning on doing the GT500 front end conversion but thats not set in the stone yet still looking for parts for that. So far I have air bags module etc.., new OEM fenders L+R, used OEM black hood (no scoop), used OEM rad support, Radiator, fans, condenser, coolant reservoir etc.. Hoping to have this thing drivable by summer shooting for May, Im doing this in my home garage and wont be working on it everyday.

Now onto the pics...

When I first got the car and brought it home, the first thing I did was wash it

I got more pics coming they will be up soon...

God that car has a lot of rust starting. I wonder if those cars have a lot of electrical problems.

Its from New Jersey down by the shore so it has some surface rust on parts, not a bit of rot anywhere on the car. Plus its been sitting a while. Ill be going over the whole car and cleaning it up, I will be painting the whole thing. Ive never heard of many electrical issues on other Mustang forums, and this car checks out ok It runs and drives.

Re: 2006 Mustang GT Collision Project

That right there is why I will never buy a car from the northeast, that car is only 8 years old but has more rust than a car that was sitting in the woods for 20 years here.

Sent from A Galaxy Far Far Away........

Well thats just how it is around here in the northeast, not much you can do about it since this is where I live lol. I work on 1st gen Mustangs everyday and seen rust like you wouldn't believe, so this little bit (little bit to me) is no big deal.

Re: 2006 Mustang GT Collision Project

Lots of rust?

Those inner fenders are damn near perfect. You can't stop surface rust on parts under rad support and inside the bumper that never ever see the car wash, besides most parts there are never even fully coated to protect against rust.

Re: 2006 Mustang GT Collision Project

This is coming along nicely. How much in additional parts have you got into it so far?

Yea its not to bad at all, and I agree

So far with everything its about $1800 I still need to get bumper cover, grill, headlights and fog lights, a few other things too

Re: 2006 Mustang GT Collision Project

Here are some pics from a month or so ago when I removed the fenders, radiator, etc.. And more pics of the damage

Re: 2006 Mustang GT Collision Project

Picked up some new wheels for it they are 2010 GT500 rims OEM 19"x9.5". 2 of them are brand new in the box from Ford and 1 is used with some curb rash Im going to have it repaired. I only have 3 and the problem is a used one sells for more then what I paid for my 3.

Re: 2006 Mustang GT Collision Project

What's with the peel here sticker?
I don't get why wheels aren't painted silver completely, bugs the snot out of me. Is that the hides the dirt theory.
I just wet sanded my TSWs today and have to wait for some warmer weather to use the Duplicolor hypersilver kit on the inside, before I mount them.

Eddie that GT is going to be sweet after your magic is done.

That sticker there is just to show that they are brand new still, and the wheel color on these are hyper silver lol. Thanks, hoping it will come out looking nice, I cant wait
