• The site migration is complete! Hopefully everything transferred properly from the multiple decades old software we were using before. If you notice any issues please let me know, thanks! Also, I'm still working on things like chatbox, etc so hopefully those will be working in the next week or two.

Well this looks like the end 4t65e

Today on my way home while in blizzard conditions my trans started hard shifting @ 104k I pulled the dtcs and had the dreaded P1811 hard shift code cleared and it stopped but what really is sad is when I pulled the dipstick :

I just checked the fluid like 2 weeks ago and it was fine not burnt or brown

I just got this f*cking car in november with 98k and it has done nothing but bend me over like a red headed step child END RANT

So what color is it? A blue towel doesn't show it well lol. Looks tan to me. It smells burnt? I'd say you just need some maintenance, a shift kit, and depending on the conditions maybe something did fail. If it only happens on a long drive the maintenance may be all thats needed. I was in the same situation a few months ago minus the fluid color issue and I fixed it on my own.

The first time I cleaned the dipstick it was grey the times after it was brownish red sorry about the towel doesn't really have a smell only when im driving in the city it acts up stop and go traffic and today it was snowing which probably is even harder on the trans considering my tcs isnt working due to a speed sensor maybe a shift kit and a drop n fill

Brownish red is just an indication that it's original at 104k miles. Not a big deal, I don't normally see the issue with the 04+ 4t65e's but I know it's possible. Do what redcompg and I said, it will most likely fix it.

i have found that even red fluid on a white napkin can still look brownish to the eye. i usually let it drip on something i can see to verify true color. and if you wipe the stick fresh out the tranny you're going to have clutch material on the dipstick and it'll come off black. i bet a pan drop and shift kit and you'll be fine for a while

That's a transgo then. They're going for around $45 on ebay. You don't really notice a difference from normal operation unless you're getting on it. Then it's just like theres a perf shift option on. But it will make a difference during normal driving if there's an issue with shift times.

Sweet I have looked at them before just never thiuggt about getting one... what about a trans cooler? Also what would be a step up from a transgo?
