2003 Grand Prix shifter

My Grand Prix has a locked up shifter and I put a pen in the little hole and push it to get it to unlocked EVERY time I start the car! Perhaps its a wiring of fuse problem? Maybe the brake pedal switch? I hate to have to unlock it like that because I'm worried that the little "reset" switch will end up going bad as well.I hope someone can shed some light on my situation!......AND, I hope to find out that it won't cost a small fotune to fix!!! This happen to my 03 grand prix se i thought all of the same things it turned out to be wire broken. there is a pin in front of the shifter pull it out and pull the shifter off. remove the console that has the shift letters. there is some wires going towards the dash, unwrap the foam and take of them i dont remember what color the wire is but it was broken find it repair it and this solved my problem. good luck
