There are more than one kit out there, piping and intercooler mount are not all the same, alot of people retro fit or buy half kit and build the rest and so on....
Without a good pic of whats going on there you can't say it not close or wrong.

If those are the square tubing bumpers you mentioned, They are gone on my car. Stay tuned for pictures. Heck, I might just remove the bumper cove to take them.
 
Hard to say whats going on without a pic as I said, but heres a good example of what I was talking about.
Foam cut but bumper still there with a tall intercooler which would also show though the bumper if the front plate recess was cut out.
 
That's kinda what mine looks like I think. I believe the tubing your IC is mounted to is MUCH more substantial than mine.

Not my car, just an example. Setup on mine is identical to the one in the pics Scotty posted.
 
Dude who sold me the "FRANKIAC" said he forgot to give me the spare parts. Upper and lower intake manifold, Good set of heads, alternator, starter, fuel rail injectors and some other stuff......

I should go get this stuff don't you think?
 


Car is home, but, I can't locate my USB card reader dam it.......... The piping is black, and when I tap it, it almost sounds like a ceramic. I'm guessing it's steel with a coating.
