• The site migration is complete! Hopefully everything transferred properly from the multiple decades old software we were using before. If you notice any issues please let me know, thanks! Also, I'm still working on things like chatbox, etc so hopefully those will be working in the next week or two.

Further degradation of the 3800 scene.

I'd like to see some home made 3800 headers. In my almost 10 years around 3800s, I don't think I've seen it done.

Oh but someone has.

Long tubes as well.

Start searching for a build thread of a slammed Bonneville with an L36.

Hint: It's on Bill's other home away from home.

I did that with my pacesetters.

Got rid of the entire three bolt/collector flange and the flex as well. Welded the crossover, rear header, and downpipe all in one, so they were just two piece. Install was a friggen breeze once the motor was yanked forward. Only way I'd do another set of headers.

Vogel did a set of LT's with 2" primaries way back when as well.

Good luck finding pics of that though. They've dropped off the face of the planet. We're done correctly though.

Do you mean were?

The thread over on Club GP is getting pretty good.
People keep saying it's up to the buyer to determine whether or not the product is worth it.

But that theory doesn't apply when they're being mislead.

That reminds me of the vendor in the 3/S scene I previously mentioned. They had put up a throttle body spacer on their site and people went off on the subject since TB spacers are proven to do nothing. The site owner "justified" it being on the site because he is not made aware of everything that goes on the site. That theory got a hole blown in it when someone had posted up saying they called him on it a few weeks before that. A few people who are nut riders of that particular vendor were like, "well its up to the buyer" blah blah blah. After a lot of backlash and pressure the vendor finally took it down.

The 3800 community has been relatively free from crap like this.
It's much more prevalent in other genres, specifically the Hyundai forums.
Fly by night 'companies' open up and sell CRAP to the completely uneducated masses. They have NO IDEA what they're doing, none of them.
Each 'company' fights to out hustle the next through creative writing and anecdotal testimony from morons.
It's really sad.

Like ZZP saying their catback makes more hp than anyone else's. Don't get me wrong it looks good and sounds good and is still 1/2 the price of the Corsa and Borla system. And for the price its not to bad, I had called a local shop here and they quoted me $500-$600 depending on what mufflers and tips I went with and that was for just 2.5" non stainless.

My 3" exhaust was built from scratch here for less than $300.

Was mild steel, as well. But still...lol @ that price slick. If shops around here charged that much, then I'd be inclined to purchase stuff like that from a vendor as well.

Exhaust shops around here are ridiculous with their pricing, before I had a welder or knew anyone with a welder the cheep place in town charged me $100 with install for a glass pack.

none of those would be as nice as a good cut/weld mandrel setup with proper grinding/mating

i have for sale a setup i built for my best friends 04, 700$ in magnaflow mufflers/res and dynomax U bends and 3 days of work

no one is interested in it for 600$ so we'll probably cut it up for the 442

fairly big difference between a shops pipe former and a U bend

none of the off the shelf Y's flow good enough...so ya make yer own

mandrel bendz or trubenz whatever they are now.

$190 all mandrel bent. $100 reso $60 muff pairs $350 catback

Are we turning this into a catback thread?? lol
