• The site migration is complete! Hopefully everything transferred properly from the multiple decades old software we were using before. If you notice any issues please let me know, thanks! Also, I'm still working on things like chatbox, etc so hopefully those will be working in the next week or two.

Finally broke into the 12's.

This past Friday I went back to Orlando speed world. Last time I was there I ran my personal best of 13.00. I was both happy and a little frustrated at being so close to my goal and not getting it. This time I pulled some weight out to help me drop my e.t. I removed the passenger and rear seat along with everything in the trunk. All together I was able to get 165lbs out of it. I didn't want to get crazy because I would have to put it all back soon. There was rain early in the day that dried up mid afternoon. Temperature was ok but not great at around 70*-75*. The traction was not as good as it was last time but not too bad.

First run was 13.086 @107.25. Second run there was some water on the line from the previous cars A/C so I spun lots. Third and final run of the night I spun a little but not bad and it ran good with a 12.997. That's about as close as it gets but good enough for me. This was still with my heavy mustang 18" wheels and a 2.0X 60ft. If I ran some slicks or good dr's I could drop that a good amount but I want to give my stock tranny a fair chance of staying in one piece. I might pull some weight one more time this season to see what it will run on a truly cold night, but for now I'm super happy with it.

Been following you on fb Mike, good job sir. Any other plans or plan on dropping that time any further into the 12s? Your trap speed seems a lil off though guess that's a VS cam thing.

Whats up man. Not sure on the trap. Seems ok to me. Its still a pretty heavy car with a lot of rotational mass. The gxp rotors weigh 24lbs a piece and the wheels are not very light. With stock size wheels and the stock brakes it would pick up a little.

Are you planning on keeping your stock trans or switching to a built trans?

Keeping stock until it breaks and then it get replaced with the stock spare in my garage. It has done me right so far with over 100 track passes. About 40 of those are with a 13.5 or quicker setup. I run street tires at the track with no real burnout. I think that helps on some wear and tear.

Yea you're right that extra weight around the wheels could be the difference. I wanna build my car up like this evetually. I want a VS cam setup too but all that jazz isnt happening til i pay this off sadly.

I hear you on that. I got most of the parts used, besides cam, and built it up one part at a time. I think that is part of the fun. Work your way up to your goal. It definitely isnt the quickest car out there but it pulls good and is quick enough to suprise some people. Also I built it to be reliable enough to drive an hour to the track, race all night, and drive it home.

In which direction is it off? On my last VS cam setup I ran a 12.86 @ 108.9 with a 1.95 60'

BTW Congrats on 12's!

I would get some slicks on it. I'm a big believer that soft, sticky tires will help save your trans.

BTW, nice times.

Thanks. No slicks for me. At least not right now. I agree that it seems like a lot of people are breaking when they spin and then hook. I also think that with steet tires they act as sort of a cushion that will slip if need be.

This is as quick as I want to take it right now. As you know that will probly change with time.

Sticky tires are not going to prolong trans life. Spinning and not getting traction is much less abusive than tires that grab

I know you have more in her man. that pass's trap speed dropped .1th from your first run of the night. which means you should have been able to put down a 12.900 or better. once we start datalogging your wide band we prob can squeeze some more power out of the car too. also if you get a AFC we can adjust the MAF and then you can push the shifts a little higher.

I know there is a little more to be had. I have had a little better sixty foot times too and it was only 70* out. I will run again when its cooler.

They do, actually. One cushioned shock when the motor is making less power and torque is way better than multiple hard shocks when the motor is in the meat of its powerband.

Could always look for ported heads in the mean time... Xpz cam (insert evil laugh). Or twin charge!!! If u change to a turbo cam i call dibs on the vs cam.
