Getting KR with torque app

Have a base tune on my top swap and if i see boost it will knock a little, but never more than 4. Today while i was cruising at 75 the app said i didn't have any KR but then the app set off an alarm saying that i got more than 10 degrees knock. I wasn't in boost or anything though. Any thoughts? Is this just false KR or should i be more worried?

I wouldn't be worried. It's not super uncommon to randomly see weird blips of knock even when you're doing nothing or even downshifting, but there's no reason that you should see that much. Don't worry.

The more i compare it to anything the more i figure out that's true. A lot of the things it says i can't hear or something like that. Suppose i should just bite the bullet and get a scan gauge.

Yeah buy me one too lol.

My torque is weird too, it will show like 3* of KR and -3* of timing advance while accelerating normally every now and then. But at WOT KR stays at 0 and timing is like 15*

Considering it pulls data from the same place as scan tools and gauges,I doubt the readings are all that inaccurate. I think most people's problems lie in the fact that its update interval is limited by the OBDII adapter.

Try having it log KR and don't pay any attention to the "live" gauges, most people don't have a quick enough adapter to make it worthwhile watching those.

Agreed ^^^^^ Everything is about update speed. I personally wouldn't ignore any KR in the 4-10 degree range. What if you are only seeing the beginning of a 10 degree hit and it's showing as 4 because of your refresh rate? On a top swap, that's not cool.

How do i go about logging KR with it? Whenever i log something it's always just the gps route. Never get any engine info in the log.

In the settings under Data Logging and Upload go in Select what to log select Knock Retard, Uncheck the box next to Automatically Log GPS, and make sure to check the box next to Also log selected sensors. You could probably also log timing and fuel trims if you wanted. Also if you use the half dial meter gauge it shows the highest and lowest value.

I have the same app. When it said to use full throttle to test for KR, how long do I have to press full throttle for?

I know that lol I'm just curious as to how long I have to full throttle the car. And if someone could explain the information it gives me for possible detonations, that'd be awesome.

Doesnt matter what speed you are at.

Not sure how the phone app works, I have aeroforce scangauge and my laptop to look at. Couldn't tell you if those are correct or not, but figure stock timing is roughly 14-16 from the factory and it can retard it some if it see's knock.
