Boost gauge install help

I got a glowshift 7 colour boost gauge and I have the wires hooked up and installed the vacuum hose to meet up with the factory hose right before the map sensor (map sensor is still connected and works fine). When the engine is running the boost gauge goes into the in/HG section of the gauge. Now I have no experience with boost gauges so is this normal? I thought it should be on the psi side.
 


You're almost never going to boost. Unless your foot is on the floor. You will almost always run vacuum, like 99% of the time lol.
 
Ok well thanks for clearing that up. Other than that tho its ok if I have the vacuum hose connected right before the map sensor?
 
If you're getting boost/vac then there shouldn't be a problem. Just curious, how much vac are you seeing at idle?
 


I have read stock boost is usually about 6psi or so? Only engine mod I have is an open cone so I assume it would be around 6psi?
 
Ok well thats all the help I need for this tread so thanks guys. Kinda off topic but dmahlikGT is your plog, dp and thrush a nice loud system over stock (any drone) and for the money are they good power adders?
 


@rhe my exhaust sounds decent for the most part. At idle its actually a bit quiet except on cold starts which i like cuz car rumbles nicely and sounds twice as loud then when its warm lol but louder then stock and there's a small amount of drone when cruising but.not bad. At wot my exhaust does get a bit loud but not overly loud. As for power my plog and dp combo definitely gave the car some power mainly in the top end. It pulls hard to 90 then slows a bit,i need to get a full tune though.
 
OP your good I just did mine for the first time and im seeing the same things, our rides are not as BA as we would like to think of them. When I let er rip on the freeway I can almost ping it about 7-8 but im a little modded.
