NEW AC based INTERCOOLING SYSTEM!!!! (will require slight retro fit)

Here is a new IC system that use the AC system from your car to drop the intake temp 20 to 30 Degree easily. The kit will require slight retro fit to get as this is a (Universal) kit being used on a new gen Camaro. The kit is 900 dollars off the website. Yes 900 is 900 dollars however look at what other air to water kits cost. The others are at or near this price and Im willing to bet this kit will work better with out having to use a water IC pump as this uses the AC pump already in your car.

Here is the whole tech article. YOUR WELCOME!

Cough Cough ** combine this with the uber efficient TVS...................

Interesting... But those two sites harp on lowering the fluid temp without saying how much it lowers the AIR temp. Interesting none the less, bookmarked and will keep an eye on this. Maybe a project for next spring : )

if i read the description right, it sounds like it chills the water in an air water ic using the AC system. since I only have my phone on me right now, i'll look at it a little bit later on the comp again. I'm also guessing you will need more refrigerant for the load of the intake air temp in order to not reduce the capacity of the cabin coil.

im not buying into it. after he gets on it, (not for very long either) the ait temps are back to 90, where it was before the chiller was turned on.

seems the chiller cant keep up with the air the engine needs. i know the a/c compressor turns off at wot, so how does this thing help, other then good chilled cruising temps. and how the F do you tune for cold air at first then warm to hot?

and what about the cars a/c? im certainly not trading my ice cold a/c for this crap set up.

im calling it snake oil sales lol

If the car didnt have the chiller the temp would stay are 80-90 then rise even more to well over 100 and take longer to cool back down. Seems like it would take well over 10 seconds to start hitting above 100º intake temps with that chiller compared to a normal intake system that would make temps jump from an already warm air to even hotter.

And you wouldn't even have to really tune for it, the car is smart enough on its own to know what to do. Sure maybe you could add more fuel/timing yadda yadda right away then just let the car determine what's best as time goes on.

The vehicles A/C is not changed, its just added on to, the system works 100% normal as it always would. You are just adding more to it thus why in the specs it says it would need 5-6oz extra of freon for the added lines.

I think its an okay idea, but its not for everyone.

Theve been doing doing this for the zl1 camaros a d caddies for a while now. Works great for them. Iirc a 3800 guy did it too.

Considering that the coolant temp is certainly higher when the car goes into open loop, I don't see how this kit would not be beneficial. No matter how you look at this is more stable than the systems relying on coolant temps.

I think it could work... But is fishy that only the coolant temp is mentioned when the actually benefit comes from lower the air temp and those numbers aren't quoted. I'm sure using the a/c system, condenser/cooling concept can cool the liquid to the Intercooler better than just outside air. That said I think it's recovery will be limited meaning your limited to one pull probably on cooled air! Then you'll be at the same advantage/disadvantage of just Intercooled alone.

But like anything, there's only one way to find out, and that's by sacrificing yourself on the altar of benefitting everyone else and being the test case. Lol...

Benifits are in the single digit range for power... I would rather spend the money on a turbo or nitrous vs a $2500+++ intercooler for my $1500 grand prix.

retarded. so you're gonna have the drag from the ac compressor to gain what, about 15 hp on a good day?

A wonderful post.

Truely amazing.

Clearly you didnt read it, nor understand how most A/C systems work. A/C's shut off upon WOT or at given rpms, and no matter what car you drive that has a A/C system, that pulley will always be there so when its off how is the drag any different.

And as said before, its not worth the cost on a vehicle like ours nor on many cars. If you have the money to burn, but it or just go turbo.
