check engine light help - p0102 and p1655

I recently got a check engine light on my 97 gtp. I installed a FWI a month or so ago, and I don't know if that contributed to the problem. I've cleaned the MAF, changed my oil because it was low. There is also a recent sound like rattling coming from my exhaust...could be unrelated or related I'm not sure. Could a rear o2 cause these two codes, and any help is much appreciated.

What are your symptoms? The rear o2 sensor will throw a code called 02 heater circuit low or no signal, but it will not effect the performance of the car

i had no problems until the day of, and the symtoms were also i did have a o2 heater circuit lower coming on once a week. i kept turning it off cuz i thought it was from the headers, and ok ill check it out thanks

The other code is for a evap purge solenoid which monitors pressure in your gas tank if i am correct... meaning that it is stuck open or closed and not doing its job properly. I dont believe it effects your drive ability, its more of a safety issue. but if someone else could pipe in on that to be sure...

NP. o2 heater circuit low or no signal is nothing though, just a nuisance code basically. It just means that your useless o2 sensor needs to be replaced or it will keep complaining. id recommend just putting a simulator in in place of it and deleting that restrictive u-bend that it is threaded into. might as well seeing as you have headers. the headers would be wayyy more effective if you got rid of that u-bend

Doesn't the rear o2 sensor help regulate MPG? As in fuel saturation, etc?

My mom's Blazer needs an exhaust o2 sensor and is running like sh*t.

nah, its mostly there to tell if your cats clogged or not. it depends on what car though and which o2 it is. the older gp's its nothing. at the shop i work at we actually weld them to the outside of the pipe so the code doesnt come up anymore lol and if you delete the code enough itll just stop throwing it up.

my rear o2 is bad right now too and it's been that way for about a month. no change in gas mileage or drive ability

thanks for all the help. i took a look at it today and it was the rear o2 that was wearing against the one of the rubber rings that holds the exhaust up. There is supposedly a pink wire than runs through the wire that was rubbing, that also runs to the maf. My fuse number 21 was blown and i replaced it. both codes have gone away and ill replace that o2.
