• The site migration is complete! Hopefully everything transferred properly from the multiple decades old software we were using before. If you notice any issues please let me know, thanks! Also, I'm still working on things like chatbox, etc so hopefully those will be working in the next week or two.

Thinking of converting to E85.. Yes or Ne??

I've never heard that a stock chain is stronger than a roller chain and have a hard time believing that 90 lb springs are harder on a timing chain than 105's but I've also never scene any actual evidence to say either way. Rollmaster claims otherwise however... Good luck with your e85 conversion

I could be mistaken, but I always read that 90's were harder on the chain/dampener than 105's due to the ramp rate.

Well I filled her up with E85 on Wednesday and have been grandma pedaling for the past few days. I want to run a full tank of the stuff before getting a tune. The car runs fine with it untuned.. no boost of course :)

Snowflake is going to give me a real tune next Wednesday, in which I will be on my 2nd tank of E85 so hopefully all the 93 crap is out!

You bringing smaller pulleys and belts with you? Im sure you will be impressed after your tune :th_thumb-up:

Nah I'm going to stick with a 3.0 pulley for now and see how much timing I can run. If all goes well, I may drop to a 2.8 down the road.

Yeah with your more efficient GenV and N* that's a smart move. Post back Wednesday and let us know how it goes.

Should be very safe on a 3.0 with e85 (more like e70 here though)
Actually, when I was running the TVS setup, my "e85" was tested at e60.
Still way better than 93.

In Michigan they claim it's true e85 only in late July and August... but I guess without testing who knows if it's even 85% then???

Shouldn't it be E85 since it is not winter yet? The pump stated E85 so I sure hope it is correct!

01 Silvermist GTP - Stock trans, ZZP headers, S1X cam, ported heads, phenolic IC, polished Gen V, N*/LQ4, 3.0 pulley, 60# injectors

If this is the car that's running E85 now you should easily be on a 2.6

SIX, TOGS, stock heads, GenV, no IC and I DD the car on a 2.8 with 22* of timing.

Stock trans on the other hand....LOL

Well, things did not go so according to plan today. After doing some WOT runs, my AFR kept going from mid-11's to almost a 13.0 come shift point, meaning the car was losing pressure somehow. No KR until 3rd gear on 18* timing however.. I was totally baffled by this, so we popped the hood and Nick spotted a HUGE kink in the feeding fuel line. The kink was so bad we initially thought the line needed to be replaced. I ended up driving it back home, then popped the kink out with some pliers in under two min LOL. I then did some WOT pulls and the AFR is much more consistent now, however it is still leaning out to about a 12.3-12.4 after 6000rpms. So all in all at least ONE problem was resolved... Now I need to figure out why the AFR is still leaning out a bit. I know mid-12's isn't too bad, I just don't want to give it a more aggressive tune until I figure this out. The car has a racetronix fuel pump/rewire, flex fuel filter from an 04 Mercury Tahoe, and Seimens 65# injectors. Pretty sure I have all the hi-flow fuel needs, which leads me to believe the car is still losing pressure somehow from another kink somewhere or something alike. The tune is safe for now though... Stock timing, however still feels faster than when on 93 :)

How old is the filter? Is the tank metal? I've heard that filters can plug real quick when converting to e85 especially with a metal tank. My tank is plastic and I changed the filter a week or so after my convert and tune and it was totally clean. In my case it was good to be safe rather than sorry. If your filter is old and your tank is metal I'd change that filer asap. e85 will clean a metal tank really quick and the particles will get plugged in your filter.

Pretty sure all the 00 and up tanks are plastic... I changed the fuel filter a few months ago to on 04 Mercury Tahoe Flex Fuel filter from Autozone.

I just relocated my pump rewire from the fuse box to the back of the alternator.. Gonna see if that helps or not. Maybe some higher voltage..
