Are you addicted... to working on cars?



I liked it until I became a mechanic and have to work on peoples crap on a daily basis...I of course will not pay anyone to do something I can do no matter how much I hate it

I hate paying a shop $100 an hour for labor when I know I can do it myself for free.

And working on cars usually becomes a social event for me, as I'll invite a few buddies out to hang. Invariably it means one guy is working and the other 2-3 are standing around. :D
 
GP's can go probably near 140-150 if you swap the PCM and obviously have some parts than can handle that speed
 
Just removing the speed limiter isn't going to help the GP go 140-150. There is just no power there. It's power limited as well as drag limited.

worked on my car tonight because the starter solenoid screw was junk and wouldnt tighten the wires down, so i got a new bolt and sanded down the head so that it was skinny enough to fit, a electric sander, and i got it to fit, went to the store to get a mid sized socket wrench cause i didnt have one for some reason, put everything on the bolt, tightened it down with my hands cause the nut and bolt were brand new, and once i used the wrench, the solenoid body like just broke off... and now there is no support for the screw to have and now i need to buy a new solenoid

so who wants to give me tips on how to replace a starter solenoid?

its rather easy. remove the starter, then take what ever nuts you see on the cover of the solenoid and the nut off the fat wire that leads into the starter.

once all that is off theres a lever that has a hook on it that the solenoid grabs. you may have to take a screw driver, and push the little starter wheel out or in manually to un hook the solenoid. (the starter gear in the nose cone)

thanks man, but I ended up buying a new starter and replacing all of it cause it's worth it in the end
