Increasing headlight light output?

I replaced the fogged headlamp assemblies on the 01 GT with basic replacements. They look great but light out put is pitiful. Hi beams shine about 3' farther than lo beams LOL. Not good for driving at night on the country roads. Trying not to put too much $$ into the car so don't want to go projectors, any ideas on what can be done here?

Any tips appreciated.

A retro is the best way to upgrade the lighting especially without blinding oncoming traffic. With halogens you can look into a better 9007 bulb such as the philips x-treme power or xtreme vision. A relay harness will give you a little more voltage to the bulbs. You could also upgrade the foglights to something like pilot cyber white nv-602W.

My light set up is 9007 philips xtreme vision with a halogen relay harness. My foglights are optilux 2500 angel eyes with an H3 osram nightbreaker bulb and an upgraded harness that came with the foglights.

Step #1. HIDS

Step #2. Retros
Gonna have to make them yourself.

Thanks, what do you mean by "retro"? I picked up some Sylvania Silverstar 9007 bulbs yesterday, will try those along with the relay harness. I think these lights may also need to be re-aimed, anybody got instructions how-2?

Aftermarket headlights, stock ones any way will never put out the light of stock ones. I just ordered a pair of new GM headlight assemblies For $100 each from my friend at teh GMC stealership. IMO the starting point for the best light output is fresh stock lights. I owned a 97 GTP in 98 with 10k miles on it and I remember the headlights being good. I will prob do a harness/HID in these new lamps.

Should have gone with rockauto's oem style headlights. The TYC headlights cost 70 for the set and are great quality. Or you could buy my $100 projectors :P

^ this. Save yourself half of the cost and output would still be great.

Just because u go oem doesn't mean that's the best route. Oh and prepare to blind everyone with those hids scattering light everywhere.

I have heard that but honestly I have had more people flash me since I went with my retros
