Michigan police and window tint

So I was visiting my aunts house for a weekend. Was driving through Argentine Township in MI, I was actually speeding a bit 45 in a 35. Saw the cop by a school, didn't slow down because I thought I was busted and just let off back to 35. Once I go by him he pull behind me for a mile just following then flips on his lights. I pull over roll my window down, get everything I need license, insurance, registration. He comes to my window and says "can I see your drivers license". I hand it too him and then say. "Do you want the insurance and registration" Hes like "sure" take it then goes back to his car, 5 min later comes back. He says "Your window tint is a tad dark, do you live around here", I said "No from Ohio visiting my aunt" AS IF MY OHIO REGISTRATION, DRIVERS LICENSE, LICENSE PLATE MEANS ANYTHING . Then he asked me about Ohio's window tint laws I was like i dunno. I have had the car for a year and half without problems about it. He hands me my stuff back and says "Have a nice day" I'm like are you serious it was one of the most pathetic reasons to be pulled over EVER IMO. I honestly think it was more of a "lets try and bust a teenager" or my car might look suspicious being black rims, tint, color. Are cops really that worried about the tint or is it a making money thing. It seemed like if he wanted to REALLY get me for the tint he could out of state or not. -.-

he may have just wanted an excuse to run your info and make sure there were no warrants..
i've been up in here in michigan for 6 months and still have arkansas plates and license and im shocked i haven't been pulled over yet.

Either way, be glad he wasn't a dick for giving you a ticket. I'd consider that a very nice cop in my books. Heck, any cop who doesn't give me a ticket when I'm in the wrong is good in my book. Especially my tints lol

So you got pulled over for your tint because it was darker then the legal limit allows in that state?

Somehow your upset because he pulled you over just for that?

Yet I here no mention about a ticket or so, so really your upset why? Because he wasted 10 mins of your time.

Sounds like you need to be happy that it wasn't a ticket.

You argue a good point, I'm happy I didn't get a ticket. But pointless traffic stops irritate me because I'm an impatient teenager. I'm not saying I want a ticket but at least it would have justified the stop in my opinion. Moreless how the whole thing played out irritated me.

Thats nothing, i once got pulled over and got my backseat thrown across the street and dash tooken apart in the middle of winter and there excuse was that my tail-light was out, which was impossible because they were led's... 45 minutes freezing minutes later they were on there way

You're lucky you didn't get a ticket. Police usually likes to go after out of state cars because they know the driver rarely will come back to challenge it. The cost of driving back from your home to local courthouse often costs more in gas than the ticket costs.

Better adjust because I'm sure it'll happen again in your lifetime.

It's not like the cop knew who you were and what race you are.. So ranting over this is pointless. He did his job and you got off with just a warning. Love, breath, drink and be happy.

:th_tongue2:

Grow up. He should have given you a ticket. If he knew what a crybaby you were he probably would have.

WI State Troopers are about as bad as they come, when your talking about pointless traffic stops.. They will hide in every little corner of the CITY, while being the biggest douchebags on the planet.. If you have a car with ANY mod, you will get pulled over.. Tint, Exhaust, ANY stickers/decals on window, Lowering springs, air intake.. Hell I was pulled over for a licence plate trim ring, that was not covering the month or date, and his reason For that , and everything I previously mentioned.. If the car didnt leave the factory with it, its not legal...

I find that BS, and wish I would have researched a loophole.. Anyone in this state, knows the Troopers here have some sort of chip on their shoulder, and feel the need to abuse their power, to the point of harassment.. WHich there have been more complaints filed than I can remember

What does this have to do with tint? More so, ANYthing that a guy or girl tries to do to enhance the appearance of their car? They wont allow it.. Its like a crime to have a nice looking car around here

My friend just got a Evo X and wanted tint.. He went by the state law which is 35% rear, 50% sides.. Got pulled over, the sides measured 46% ( state law provides a 3% +/- , so 47% is legal ") ****ing asshole gives him a fixit ticket and gives him 2 weeks to get the tint off..

What kind of useless piece of **** does that? 1% ..!! Are you ****ing kidding me? So my buddy just lost about $200, because of some pig on a powertrip, after having his tint on for 9 days..

I respect authority, but only when I feel they are fair, and respectful in return.. This guys was just a ****ing douche

/rant

Cops in all the small towns around here are on a crucade to raise money. Many of them are on a power trip.

Yep, once he realized you didn't have warrants out and weren't up to something, he let you go. No big deal. You were breaking the law (speeding) and he could have given you a ticket.

X2

I got pulled over 2 weeks ago driving my wife and her friend to dinner in my GXP. He claimed I did not signal when I changed lanes (I did). My wife and her friend started to say that I did and I motioned for them to be quiet. I had all my windows rolled down. He asked for my license and insurance and if I had any weapons in the car. He ran the info and asked where we were headed. I told him and actually pointed to the restaurant. He told us to have a nice night and he and I had a short chat about the local laws of carrying a gun without a CCL. I live in a part of town where most people get new cars every 3 years and they tend to drive luxury cars. My wife and I don't fit in because we don't play the luxury car payment rat race. With my window tint he couldn't clearly see who was in the car and was just checking. My wife and her friend arguing wouldn't have helped much. The officer was nice and polite. It was a bit annoying and I don't think he really was going to push the changing lanes w/o signaling. It was just an excuse to see inside since my cars don't blend in. My wife and I have both been pulled over in her Z28 for "window tint" and didn't even get a warning once they saw who we were and checked our license.

Roll them windows down before they get to the car... if it ain't snowing or raing out that is!

I have a friend who is a local police officer. Their biggest risk / fear is the unknown. One of those is when they can't see inside a car. Your tint may be legal, but they still have a hard time seeing what is going on. Roll all windows down and turn on your interior lights while pulling over. Keep your hands in view and don't make any sudden moves. This allows them to see what is going on and puts them at ease. This will go a long way in how they act around you because they aren't as concerned.

What do u expect pity?

Oh and I didn't catch the speeding part until now. So you got off without a ticket for your tint or speeding and somehow your upset because he wasted some of your time. Rofl to be young again.

I guess its a shame he didnt give you a ticket for the going 10 over so you wouldn't have been able to ***** about getting let off without a ticket.
