New here, with around $7k to spend on my car...possible directions?

New here and glad I found the forum. So I have a 2000 Buick Lesabre with the 3.8L in it and love the car and want to drop some money into her. I got roughly $7k to put into her but unsure of the route I want to go...or can afford and have it be complete and ready to drive, biggest thing.

Things I want to do will be listed after this sentence and keep inmind the money loss for it from the original $7k. Exhaust(dual or single for better performance?), brakes(full upgrade or are the current braking setup good for a higher horsepowered car?), tires, and maybe rims if the current rimsize isnt the best for take-offs etc.

So important things are for the money left to spend the car needs to be driveable. Only thing really.

I could go NA and cam it up etc etc etc but not knowing this motor much I don't know the direction to go and what I could do with the money i have to spend.

topswap or turbo? again not sure of the exacts of these but same as above, with the money I can spend is either feasible?

Any input or direction(s) to go would be great, thanks :)

get an L67, build it outside of the car and then just swap motors. it'll save you lots of time and hassle.

no need to go turbo, i feel. making big power is fun, but its more fun to make good power and then have the car looking fresh with some aesthetic pleasure.

Yea if you plan on dropping that much into a 13+ year old car your better off just getting a better car to start off with.

If your into the Buick's buy a Buick regal with lowest mileage you can find drop a full sized intercooler, 3.2 pulley headers, down pipe, tune, rockers, cam, and injectors. Then enjoy your ultimate sleeper car.

Im liking this idea. Buy a built trans, turbo intercooler cam ect. Win

We see regals bonnies grand prixs all the time but dont remember the last time seeing a lesabre. Welcome to the forums

You wanna put $7K into a $2K car? Definately subscribed!

This

or sell the car and take the cash and buy something that is rwd

Maybe not rwd, but def consider what you could get by selling the Buick and putting that with $7k. You could prob buy a GXP.

You could just put the $$$ in the bank. You like the Buick so just drive it. If it breaks, fix it. You might come across something else you want to buy with the $7k.

oh no I know what else I could do with 7 grand but just dig my lesabre, and know the motor atleast for its bulletproof bottomend and just a sick motor built right. I've had plenty of rwd and a few fwd cars that were sick. i'm not looking....yet, for the fastest thing around but something that'll make some people go "**** wasn't expecting that". as my name entails I like the unknowing look. its my longterm toy but want to drop a nice little chunk of cash into her now

PayPal me half of it and I can turbo mine and then you can sleep good knowing you helped me out in return I will "like" everything you post. Deal?

hah good luck with that ;)

i'm figuring after brakes, exhaust and tranny i'll have give or take $2,500-$3,000 left to play with, not sure I could afford a proper turbo setup and motor just as ready for it. for now i'd rather build her solid sacrificing some hp rather than get it done but not have it 100% ready to go as in the turbo and enginesystem etc also tuned/built for it. could I get a proper turbo build for the money I got left?
