Going to the track in a few weeks with the grand prix and the GT-R, any predictions?

Well a friend of mine just got their 2012 gtr back from forged performance, with a fully built motor, Cobb ap tuned. Ran a 9.94 @ 148 spinning on 335 series street tires and eventually breaking the front driveshaft. So they are heading back to forged for a little re tune and to up the boost as well as get bigger driveshafts. Car made 941 whp/ 971 wtq on pump, and 1100/1000 on e85.

Well I'm just going down there for the ride along as they allow passengers at this track. Its 1/4 mile and since I'm down there I thought I might as well run the grand Prix for a few runs. I'm guessing I'll get 5-6 runs in just to have some fun. I'm guessing mid 14s at 91-93 mph. I have never driven a family sedan down the track and would love some pointers. My car is a 2006 GT with overkill PCM, shift kit , 180 stat , 605s a 9" cone off the maf, and no cat or res. I'll probably fill 3/4 of a tank with 93 when I get to the town , then fill up with 110 when I get to the track just to keep it knock free.

So yea. Any pointers or guesses on times? And I will have time slips and videos ( in car and track side ) of both the gtr and mine.

You want as little fuel as possible, there is no reason to have 16-17 gallons on fuel, thats roughly as extra 100lbs of weight added to the car. Keep the fuel under 1/4 tank, add in 2-3 gallons of race gas and run it down the track.

Then just power brake up to 2000-2200 and let off the brake and ease into it so you don't just spin halfway down the track.

and as far as the water box? Im guessing a drive around as Im running street tires? Sucks because most of the ppl that go to this track have sub 11 second cars.. Might suck being the slowest guy there lol.. any ET estimates?

9.94 my god that's ballistic in a street car. I would like that GTR owner to go against a veyron or 458 or mp4 and just embarrass them to no end.

Haha, Yea I cant wait man... A ride along at the strip in one of my dream cars.. yes please!!! They are currently on there way back to Forged to get the front end rebuilt/beefed up.. with slicks, the new axles and bumping up the boost, they were hoping for low 9s ,high 8s on e85

ZR1Vette ran a 14.7 @ 96 or something like that back when his car was bone stock.

Long since gone...but yeah...he clocked off a few low 15's passes spinning of course.

Lower tire pressure, remove headlight, take all the junk out of the trunk/car...1/4 tank of gas or less...running 93~ as long as you're knock free now...toss a gallon of race gas in there if you got some knock.

Thanks man. It will be fun regardless, but I just wanna go make a few runs and hopefully not be the slowest car there lol. Hoping for some dick in a v6 mustang or camaro/firebird. :)

Car is noticeably quicker after the shift kit and overkill PCM which I did not expect at all.

As far as fuel goes I'll keep it around 1/4 and add the 110 they have there. Usually I add 50% race fuel if I'm at the track unless its below 60* so about 2 gallons of 110 to 4 gallons 93.

I'll be there on my awesome brand new 70,000 mile all seasons lol, but I'll drop the pressure a bit. Usually to 25-30 I'm guessing?

Not really worth it to add race gas if the car doesn't knock...that's what I was getting at.

Get a way to scan the thing...if you don't have more than a degree at the top of the shift, then I wouldn't add more than a gallon anyways. It won't HELP you if you don't knock.

I'd also say stick to around 25~ or a little more.

No burnouts...street tires don't need it. Just drive AROUND the water box. Don't chirp the tires to "clean" them either...that just puts strain on the input shafts.

Well I'm scanning with torque pro. Not the best , but its something. At the 1-2 and 2-3 shift before any basic support mods I was getting 4+ degrees of kr wot. After the overkill I am down to 1.1 * being my max. On a hot humid day today. I can't stress enough how good this canned tune really is. Very impressed. So yes I am getting knock and I know race gas won't help my performance if there is no knock, but to be on the safe side, I'll spend $20 in gas to protect my motor.

I'm seeing about 6.5 psi for boost now with stock pulley, so I still can't figure out how its knocking. I do notice a ****load of kr if I'm climbing a steep hill and the car is bogging in 4th and won't downshift. 5-7 * actually when I'm light on the throttle which is odd, because if I hammer on it it goes away. Its like some low voltage tps, ignition issue or something. My SSei did the same thing

Thats 30% race fuel.

And yes videos of gtr please

Lol I will have many more pics and vids of the gtr. Trust me!!! I will also have a few in car races down the track, as they allow passengers in the car :)

If I see a video or pictures of the GP going down the track I'm going to go on a killing spree killing baby seals. So I suggest you spam us with GTR or other bad ass car pictures and videos. Kthnksbye

Lol. Yea well you'll see both. I'm gonna line up with her on one of the races anyways. I should have a good 2 dozen pics and at least 10 vids , and yea I will keep the grand Prix bids to a minimum :)
