Okay since im supposedly a child let me bluntly state this. I do appreciate the help, but adding the cold air intake made it worse now i ask as to why that would happen but after conducting tests my air filter gets hot i mean really hot. So i must construct a wall out of polycarbonate or even stainless steel wrapped in foil to ensure cold or cooled air. I do apologize but i usually smoke this grand am GT by at least three car lengths. I now realize at low temps it runs awesome but at high temps i have a dramatic performance decrease which i did not have this problem until i installed the CAI. The hot air is causing my engine to run hotter and slowing performance for what ever reason. I'm sure other engines run just fine when warmed up to 185 degrees but mine runs like ****. So i apologize for any childish behavior but if your car went to crap don't tell me you wouldn't do the same especially when i chopped up the stock air filter box trying to use it for the CAI and now cannot reinstall it which by all means is my own stupidity. As they say though you learn more quick when doing wrong on your own stuff than someone else's and i do look like a freakin idiot but i will continue on. Also i am very serious when i say i do appreciate the help cause if i didn't i wouldn't have freakin joined this forum community:th_sign-pontiacs:.

If you have something like the ebay style intake that is just a tiny c**k sized piece of pipe with a filter attached to it then yes it would probably start to hurt ya...still even with high temps it shouldn't hurt you THAT bad. Fix that with a 180* T-Stat...you can get them at the local auto parts store too for about 5-10 bucks.
Make yourself a Fenderwell intake of sorts like you stated. That will make wonders for a difference IMO.
Next then I would worry about the exhaust side of things. Since it is a N/A 3800 I wouldnt spring for a 3" DP as that might be a bit overkill, just get the 2.5" DP with Cat/ U-Bend Delete and you'll be good to go. Don't worry about the stock catback either as it is good for 11's and 12's
Basically I think for a GT a simple mod list should include: FWI, 2.5" O/R DP, 180* T-Stat, Aftermarket PCM (DHP, Overkill, or a Powertuned PCM), colder plugs (NGK TR55's or Autolite 104's), a ported Throttle Body and HV3 Upper Insert would be sweet. After those I would get PEM's (Ported Exhaust Manifolds) and depending on how fast you want to make it, I'd say then 1.9 Rockers/ #105 Valve Springs OR a GT1/GT2 Cam...Plus upgrading to a HD Differential wouldn't hurt ya since the Non-HD Transmissions in the GT/SE's are WEAK.

Sound like you made a HOT air intake. When good for gas mileage, its bad for performance. In order to mod your gt you have to really figure out what you really want to do with the car, whether it be runing it to the ground, or turbo, or supercharged project. Once you figure that out then you can mod your gt accordingly. For example, im going to do a top swap (gtp head) so i want to do supporting mods for it like, 180* t-stat (which is a good mod for a stock gt as well), Headers and catback (really want to open up the exaust for all the extra air comming in), COLD air intake, the list goes on... Just figure out what you really want to do with the car before you start modding. Some real basic mods for your gt that would make a difference aside the cold air intake, zzp dp, 180* t-stat, overkill pcm, autolite 605's (1 heat range cooler than stock, for N.A thats all you need). With those mods you will be able to beat 350z's nvm these grand ams.

My intake involves the stock rubber funnel that comes off the engine and a big a** cone filter held up by zip ties... no wall around at all it looks just like Qwik GT's but mines not supercharged oh and the tr55's do run colder but i lost some power switching from the accel plugs like power i could rost em around the corners now it goes errrr. before it would be like errrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr shift into second gear then grip. but yeah not to excited but it runs a crap load cooler. Now do i run premium with tr55's or what? i mean am i missing something?
Well last night i had bout a gallon of regular left in tank so i dropped 7 gallons of premium in and after some easy driving i opened er up around a corner and itrs like it used to be so i guess its all good but if you don't care about the heat issue accel plugs and premium work better no joke.

tr55's are 2 heat ranges colder than stock, what did you gap them at? you have no mods on the car, you do not need tr55's. i ran stock ac delcos gapped at .55 till i went supercharged, then i switched to the 104's which are equivalent to your 55's
tr55 were like 14 dollars where as the stick acdelcos were 46 dollars and not only that but the t stat 180* and the soon to be fixed cold air intake will be my mods along with the pcm as soon as i choose what i want. And also is the pcm located by the stock air filter? if not wtf is that lol it gwets in my road and pisses me off lol and i gapped them at .6
