my dark green metallic 98 XGT (retired)

DUI BABY
so i was "bored" and noticed i've never really had a single thread to document the life of my grand prix. i've been feel nostalgic lately and i figure you'd all enjoy a little read...

i bought the car somewhere around 2005 from a clubgp member in indiana. the car had a katzins interior, an intake, some PRJ wires, a 2.5" exhaust with flowmasters, crappy tinted windows, some grills, a 3 gauge pod with oil pressure/volts/narrowband, and was lowered on eibach springs. it had just under 85k miles when i picked it up and drove it home for what i thought was a fair price back then ($5500). it was my first car i've ever "owned".

i quickly got the car retinted, tinted the tails after a "failed" clearing attempt, added gtx trapezoidal tips, an slp gen1 wing, clear corners, and an inlay for the rear pontiac. if the previous owner did one thing well, he kept the exterior of the car mint.

fast forward down the line i swapped in an L26 UIM that i got from another clubgp member. this intake ran 11s on a CSC car.

unfortunately i crashed my car dicking around in a parking lot one day when it was snowing. i took out a ~35 foot tall cement light pole. i was lucky enough that it didn't fall onto my car. i looked and apparently i didn't take any pictures of it...weird...

this, however, gave me the necessary funds for the insurance claim to fix all the damage myself and top swap my car. this was the point in time where i was cam'd for a short stint (TOGs, double roller, 130# springs, the whole shebang) before i blew my L36. no pictures of any of this, either. weird. i eventually got it back on the road with an L67 swap running a rocker setup with a set of S&S headers (the best headers ever made for this platform and you can't get them ANYWHERE now).

from there i added a set of black headlight housings (way, way better than clears), HIDs, and the infamous 19" mille miglia ev-s.

the car drove like this for a while. i sold the 19s and went back to stock wheels and started goofing around in the engine bay again. this is when i was running meth and all sorts of airplane action in the interior. i also went back to stock exhaust somewhere in there. i really liked hearing just the motor/whine versus the poop exhaust we are all accustomed with.

i also picked up another cam, springs, heads, etc. along the way in here, but those never made it into the car. in fact, the cam was sold to the infamous 5-speed turbo car that kuntzie owned and the 58x whp he put down was with the cam i sold him!

ported blower, sealed slits, and meth setup stuff:

and here's how it sat while i had that goofy stuff (yup. roof rails, too)...

so down the road some more i ended up demodding a little (meth, gen1, HIDs, stuff easily removed) and driving it for a year or so. ended up having trans issues once i started pushing the tune and what not and decided it was time to give it up and that's when i picked up the scoob you all know and love that i'm still driving today.

if you want to see pictures of the condition in which i sold the car for, album here:

i sold the car for $1000, still modded. the guy i sold it to dropped in a new trans and motor and probably flipped it plus all the parts for at least triple what he paid. he stole it from me.

whew....that was fun...

Ha, same car I have except I have digital climate control.

Did this car have an aftermarket sunroof? It doesn't look like the factory one.

yep, aftermarket sunroof. it went into the roof and not above it like the factory ones did.

it was always a pain in the butt, though.

So, what cam was it?

The .566 Thrasher or the Nickthrasher business that you made that I ended up with that had .574 lift?

i've had both. the only one that was in my car was the "true" TEP, .566/.566.

the one kuntzie had/has is the "nick" cam, .574/.574.

This almost makes me want to keep my car. But not really...

But mine is not nearly as clean... It was when I bought it, but heh, that didn't last

another car isn't in the cards until i move in the next couple years. after that anything is an option, really.

it'll either be an old car...or a wbody, hah.

Your car was older...had twice the mileage...wasn't a GTP from the factory...also; I didn't have dirt.

and...had a few different setups and what not :)
