GXP vs a Comp G

Not much of an interesting story but I'm in a local grand prix club, and the other night we were all out messing around and another guy and I finally got a chance to line up the two fastest cars in the group. From the line the GXP just continued to pull. We ran up to about 110 and I had him by 2 1/2 car lengths or so. He used tap shift and I did not. Both cars are stock. Might have been a little closer if he wasn't using tap shift imo.

TapShift makes the car slower.

Proven.

Should have ran him and told the silly guy to leave it in drive.

Good kill though.

Lol I won't be racing him anytime soon. And Freeport is beautiful btw. I've been there a few times...

What? please point me to that thread

TapShift has different electronic settings/restrictions such as lower line pressure and enhanced torque management/restriction active to protect the components from hardware failure.
The unit may likely end up shifting slower because of it. TapShift is really just for looks when it comes to the 4T65, not very useful especially on a factory transmission/valve body.

I went through again looking at factory cal's i see very similar tables between d and tapshift shift pressures tables and modifiers.however they vary through 04-08 calibrations from being better in D and some edge out in Tapshift. All barley noticeable.
My point is TAP shift on a factory cal cant hurt your performance enough to make that kind of statement. it seems to me there were other issues at play.
The way i have my setup is in tapshift mode zero tourqe mangment .100 on shift times line pressure increased 25% from regular shift pressures etc..... essentially "performance mode".

We just started the club about a month ago... No performance mods yet, but most of the members have aesthetic stuff sounds and such. Just this past weekend we had 16 cars for a ride out and that's not even everyone... Not bad for a month old club imo.

Common sense > any thread.

You can't shift faster than a computer, nor get the exact same shift points each time either.

Only thing Tap Shift is good for is holding a gear when: roll racing or tracking the car.
