E85 conversion question...

Hello y'all. So, since I'm already going to the expense of a mildly modded top swap I was thinking of switching to E85. I have been back and forth but recently read that in a pinch I can load my gasoline tune and run that until I'm back to an E85 friendly area with stations. Of course this would only be if I was traveling and just happened to not have access. Primarily, in my home town, I have access to a few stations so I feel good about that.

I did some reading but I always like to verify.

Also, if I'm not mistaken all I need is 60# injectors, probably a 255lph pump, and proper tune, right?

I currently run e85 and it is the best mod I think I have ever done. As long as you have the means to fix the tune when blends change you'll be fine.
You can change back to gas in a pinch as long as you have the correct pulley size for that gas tune.
You need bigger injectors. Currently I'm running a stock pump no rewire on a 3.2. I am buying a rewire soon since I just got a xp cam and 2.8 pulley in the mail.
 
What year is your car?

If it's 97-03, stock pump is fine. All you will need is injectors.

And, make sure you change your fuel filter a couple times!
 
My vehicle is an '03 Impala. How often does one need to change there fuel filter? I've heard this enough I have to wonder...
 
I would change it at the initial swap. Then, change again after about 200 miles. Then probably again after 1000.
 


Last summer all i used for my 3.1" setup on e85 was 60# injectors and tune. Stock pump, stock wiring. I put on the genV/IC/Rewire/2.7" setup and the pump was tapped. Just dropped in my 255 the other day. All is well again.
 
Top swap with a gen V, rockers, and headers here. Running 60s with a rewire and I love me some e85. Also loving nice cheap gas. Never had to change my fuel filter because I have exactly 0 sediment in my fuel system. Last time I had to sending unit out everything was squeaky clean. Adecker still has his stocker in if I remember right. If your car has been taken care of you shouldent have to worry about filters.
 
I have a 2004 with the returnless fuel system.
I first started using E85 after I installed 80# Mototrons/changed IFR (injector flow rate) via HPT. (HPTuner)
At the time I had a stock pump with stock harness, and I ran that setup for a long long time with no AFR issues. (Live monitoring via wideband, fuel pressure, etc.)
I would recommend a Racetronix pump rewire, I've since installed one myself to help my factory pump as it reached higher mileage.
It can't hurt to change the fuel filter before making the fuel change, after one tank of E85, and again after ~5 more tanks.
If you have a smartphone, I would recommend looking into the app called "Flex-Fuel".
That app will display a GPS assisted map with all surrounding E85 distributing stations.
