Polishing and cleaning a supercharger and other parts

So I just picked up a gen V, LIM, heads, and throttle body. They'll be sitting for a while before I get around to using them. Right now they have the usual amount of gunk on them from just being pulled from a motor. Since they'll be sitting a while I'd like to get them all cleaned and put away nicely so they stay in good condition and don't stink the garage up. Basically the only thing that really needs a cleaning is the heads. How would I do this and is it even good for them? I don't want to clean the rotors of the sc or anything.

Now my other question. What's the best way to polish a supercharger? I have a dremel with all the polishing bits and plan on using that. Is there a certain technique that should be used? Will I need to take the rotors out or should they be ok since the outlet will be down?
 


Reptile used to polish the S/C's too... Don't know if he does anymore, but worth a shot.

Otherwise, it's not as easy as you might think to get a good finish product. Bits only get you do far, then you've got to go down to fine abrasive polishing compounds too. I'd pay someone who has experience, lol... If I wanted it polished.

This. Polish is awesome if you can afford to have someone else do it. Wouldn't be something I'd do myself takes way to much time. Paints cheap and easy to do :)
 
Get it powdercoated chrome??

Any bare metal surface will rust after being cleaned and exposed to air/moisture.

After you clean the heads, spray some oil all over them to prevent them from rusting.
 
My advise is to send it out to Farnsworth / gr8racingfool and pay for polishing.. Trust me its well worth it and after you start doing it yourself you will hate yourself for even attempting it. You will end up spending a lot of money and a LOOTT of time doing it yourself. As far as tools you will need a die grinder, 100s of sanding rolls, grinding bits, buffer wheels with greaseless compounds, many high grits of wet sand paper, etc...

Here is a blower housing I polished myself, if I could go back I would have just had the entire thing sent out, in the end it probably wouldn't have costed me more and would likely have turned out better...

How much do people usually charge to polish a blower like that? I know a while back I PMed Reptile and never got a response.

It WONT rust, it's aluminum!!! It will have to be maintained with touchup polishing or it will loss it's shine and eventually build up some corrosion (but polished aluminum doesn't corrode the same as cast aluminum, don't know why but it doesn't), which could become nearly impossible with a daily driver. As good as polished blower looks, for a daily driver I would maybe go the paint / powdercoat method if you want it to look nice and be easier to clean.

Dear lord, this is beautiful. How much would a job like this cost from someone, you should do a write up in the how-to section... even if it's just your process and materials..
