How to tell if car has alarm?

Ive got a 97 grand prix gt and i dont know if ive got a factory alarm, i dont have key fobs just the key, I want to order a key fob but dont know if I have a factory alarm in it or not, thanks
 


google your cars options list. chances are its just key less entry. there are rpo codes on the trunk lid under side, its a big sticker.

theft deterrent may just mean the chip in the key. its a security deal, no chip and the car wont stay running.
 
if your car has an alarm i believe it will set form turning the key to lock it correct? Also there is a red light that flashes on the dash when the alarm is on. So if this is the case role down your window and turn the key to set the alarm then unlock it from the inside lock and open the door and it will go off. I have accidently done this a few times.
 
fack i dont want to buy a new alarm lol i dont even have a fob i just have a key can i install keyless entry without buying an alarm? I found a keyless entry fob for my car but it says alarm only
 
Heres a quick way to check if it has a alarm, Roll down windows, take key out car, lock doors, wait a min then manually unlock door from inside and open, if alarm goes off you have one, if not then u dont
 


your car should have keyless entry so yes as easy as buy a fob or 2 and program them. directions are all over the place. and in the owners manual as well.
 
goes back to them rpo codes on the trunk lid. google would be your friend, rpo codes are out there. find the one for a alarm and see if you have it.
 


Ok I'm misunderstanding something. I have a 2004 GTP COMP G and all I got when I bought it was the key. I'm pretty sure it has an alarm (performed above test) but I don't have a clicker to arm/disarm it. How do I go about getting one ? Where to buy and how to program ? Thanks
 


call a dealer ship with your vin, they can tell you if it has a factory alarm, or just key less entry. then go but the fob your car needs on line for far less then the dealer.

if you only have one key, buy another asap.
