Will it run if unplugged and how can you clean it? I had it replaced about 4 mos ago and it's acting up again.

MAF sensor is located on the top of the Throttle body and is held in with two security torx bits which you will need to get the proper tool to remove (not expensive). While you are at the store picking up your tool, pick up a can of Electronics cleaner, like that that can be found at Autozone, CRC electronic sensor cleaner or something like that. Dont use brake cleaner or a solvent.

Once you have the MAF out, spray the connector, the connector socket on the MAF and then the MAF sensor itself. The force of the spray will clean it with the action of the cleaner itself. You dont have to use a rag or toothbrush or anything like that, in fact I would recommend against it. The elements of the MAF are made of a fine wire and using such things could instantly render your MAF a paper weight.

Once you got it clean, re-install. If you want, you can replace the security torx bits with M4 x 0.8 socket caps or bolt if you like, about a half an inch long, maybe three quarters at best.

Hope this helps.

I replaced my MAF sensor on my GP with a used one; didn't bother trying to clean in. However, on my F150, I could easily see the wires on the MAF sensor and cleaned it with a Q-tip dipped in rubbing alcohol. Worked like a champ, so Syn's method works too.

I've been wondering about this info for a few weeks, and you just drop it in my lap. Thanks! :th_thumbsup-wink:

Im kinda cool that way.

But I have to make a correction to that info, I thought it was M4 x .8 and its actually M4 x .7 and they need to be about 12mm long minimum.
