2001 fog lights not working

i have tryed everything i can think of to get these fog lights to work and still nothing. the light on the switch lights up but no light outside the fog light. i have checked all the 10amp fuses and all them look good. any suggestions would be appreciated

Stupid question, do you have the HIDs wired up properly? I know on the ones I bought from a member here they didn't work until I flipped the 2 wires at the harness and then walla- let there be light.

No idea if my fog switch was lighting up when they weren't on as my switch led has been burnt out since I got the car lol...

Could be. Did the fuse pop again with the stock fogs installed? If so, then I'd suspect you killed the relay or fried a wire somewhere and it's grounding out when power hits it. Might want to try and trace the wires back from each fog and see if you notice any melted plastic.

no it didnt and i checked all the wires and they are all good. i think its the relay and i was looking around on here and some people built their own relay? i wanna buy a new one and put it in and see if that does it but if that one dies again i think i might make my own like some people on here

just a quick update on them. so i was bored at home and i checked the relays i took the horn relay out and put it in the fog lights one and the fog lights one in the horn one. honked the horn and it worked fine. so i know the relay isnt bad. what else could be the problem on this!! i cant figure anything out with this! it keeps blowing fuses and i have used all the spares that are 10amp that came with the car and now i gotta go buy more. is there any way i could set up a bigger fuse maybe without the chance of catching something on fire

No, don't install a bigger fuse or you may have more issues than just the fogs not working. Time to trace some wiring and look for the short would be my next step. Something has to be tripping the fuse if it pops right away.

FYI- Hit up a junkyard for something else you need and "aquire" a bunch of 10 amp fuses while there. I haven't bought fuses for any car I own or have worked on for the last 10+ years this way. :th_winking:

lol the nearest junk yard where u can pull items is like 30 miles away. i might go here soon to get some parts for my girlfriends car. i think i might just get it then

so i finally checked to see if my wiring was fryed and i looked at every inch of the wire and it wasnt fryed at all it looked perfect. so i hooked the HID's up in a friends car and it blew his fuse too. Any suggestions on how i can fix this like rewiring the foglights to a bigger fuse with a bigger wire?

You have a short in your HID's. Do not go bigger wire or fuse; that is a fire waiting to happen.

Get a fused power supply and plug your HID's in part by part; harness, then a ballast, then the second ballast, then a bulb, then the second bulb. Eventually you will find the "pop" and your problem..
