What Entry Level Struts?

I'm needing to change out my stock struts as they are getting close to the end of their useful life. I'm not really intrested in lowering the car or really making the car any stiffer so I was looking at getting a set of KYB GR2's as I've had good luck with them in the past. I just recently saw an ad for springtech strust and can get a good deal on them.
Is anyone using these? I'm mainly conerned on how they stack up to the GR2's or the high end Monroes?
 


I run those on my car with no problems....Might want to do yourself a favor and get some camber bolts too....I have the 2 deg bolts and they work great. (there is no camber adjustment on our struts so if you want them to adjust you need camber bolts.

If you are sticking with stock springs, the GR2s are prefect!!

As for the camber bolts, I wouldn't think you would need these if you are not going to lower.

I would use the link above and get the GR2s. They will work fine on stock suspension.
 
I had stock springs w/ KYB GR2s, I thought my car rode like crap. It was harsh, it just wasn't a good ride at all. Glad i didn't lower it! I did put in some Olds Intrigue springs later for ass squating, they worked good but it was still harsh. Maybe it was the stock springs up front being wore out? Who knows. I ended up ditching them and getting Lifetime Monroe Quick Strut Assembles from O'Reilly... well worth the money IMO! My car rides so good now.

I still got my Intrigue springs in the garage, i've been thinking about reinstalling because they definatly prevent ass squat.

BTW, if anyone is interested, I have all four KYB GR2s in my garage, i don't really need them for anything. There painted black and ready to install on whatever.
 


BTW, Whatever struts you get, get camber bolts or slot the top holes! On top of that I've seen 2 GPs personally that needed camber bolts and they had stock springs/struts to get a proper camber alignment.

Camber bolts are better that slotted holes, Camber bolts will keep the camber correct longer.
 
sorry to thread jack, but what struts should i look at if i want the ride to be firmer, but i do not want to drop it.

i have not herd good things about the agx's, are there any other stiffer shocks???
 
The GR2s are plenty stiff for stock struts. You'll get more good reviews than you will bad ones.

I loved them when I had them with stock springs.
 
For stock springs, I would stick with GR2s. Yes, they are a little firmer, but not bad. They work great for me!
 


Ok, well after thinking about it even more I was thinking about what options I have for installing other OEM springs on my car.
Like I stated before I want to stay away from any lowering springs as the local roads are well...crap.
Now are there other OEM springs that I could get that may stiffen up the ride at all & or deal with ass sqat?

The front GTP springs are probably the best you can get if you want to stay stock. As for the back, you can get Intrigue springs to help with the squat. I have them in my car and they work great. I bought my springs from PACE Performance - GM Parts, Crate Engines, and Aftermarket Accessories and I ordered the following:

(2) 10391592 - $26.79 each

They didn't stock them, but from the time I ordered till I received the springs was less than 2 weeks. So not too bad.

But now that I am thinking about it, some people have tried running suspension from a Comp-G, I think. Not sure how that matches up with our cars, but something to check into.
 
That's what I was thinking also, The CompG suspension. But I can't seem to find a lot on it.
Did the Intrigue springs stiffen up the rear alot? or is it jsut more of a progressive spring?

They do both. They are a little stiffer spring to start with, as well as they are progressive. So the more weight you add, the stiffer the spring becomes.
