Their really about even. The xp is slightly larger but i have friends that have ran both and they love them. Its really just personal opinion or whichever you can get cheaper.

I've had both and believe I liked the S1X better. The S1x seems to respond better in the mid powerband range than the XP does. With my daily driver I'm rarely at the top end, where the XP comes alive. The XP has a way better exhaust note than the S1X IMO.

It's all opinion though, and you will likely enjoy either one of those.

I've talked to DuBob many times about cams when I was looking at camming my GTP. He told me he had been running an S1X for a while then switched to the XP. I think he more of a fan of the XP cam. After he had done quite a few installs of the VS cams (mine included :)) he said he would have gone with the VS right off the bat.

I haven't per se heard anything bad about the Intense cams. but, that's what I've heard in passing. I think most who are looking for a good cam for a daily from Intense go S1X.

so i guess i should stick with the xp that i here? and just run stock rockers? till i can get a set of 1.6 rockers? well i appreciate the help you guys are givin just do not want to make a bad choice on the cam cause it will in there for awhile.

stock rockers are 1.6 or do you mean switching to 1.6. I'm running my stock rockers now and did with the S1X as well.

The XP DEFINITELY has more power north of 5000rpms than the S1x, it was very noticeable. The XP also sounds super-sweet. I personally don't think that the S1x and XP are as close to one another as some claim.

But the VS cam really impressed me with it's powerful mid-range compared to both the S1x and the XP. Like I've said before, if I had chosen the VS the first time, I would probably have stuck with it and just went I/C'd after that.

stock mufflers sound awesome when you take the cat off the car on ours. Borla xspro's would be ftw though, I have to say.

One of my local friends 97 GTP had a S1X with ported heads, intercooler, headers, gen V blower, N* tb, 3.29s..... Anyways the car ran low 12s on motor and lost a piston during a nitrous run last year so I rebuilt the engine and this time around used an XP cam that needed some loving care or was going in the trash. Long story short the bearing mains on the cam were groved up bad from the engine it originally came from out of a different car and we had to use custom size cam bearings and have the cam turned to use it. After driving the car several hundred miles he stood on it a few times and was shocked by the stronger topend pull. I rode in the car earlier this week while doing some idle tuning for the new cam and it really does pull a lot stronger over 5K rpm, and especially over 6K rpm. I always like the strong powerband of the S1X cam and felt it to be a tossup between the two cams but as Lee mentioned earlier as well as others the S1X has great all around power and the XP lacks a bit of low rpm light throttle power and more than offsets it up top if that is your priority. I have the XP cam in my rwd cutlass and it pulls very strong all around. Both cams work well with stock heads also, so this seems to be the line whether you run stock heads or modified heads.

1/4 mile times on average would probably favor the S1X unless you go for at least 3.29's and a stall. Car barely gets into 3rd with 2.93's at the 1/4, so you really want to capitalize the low and mid-range. One of the reasons I came up with my back half MPH list was to help me decide on what cam phasing I was going to use. The results brought me to the conclusion the car needed more grunt in the 3000-4500rpm range, so advancing either cam would be a good idea if clearances are checked properly.

Remember, if using the Rollmaster, it was developed for the L36, so it may be retarded 2 degrees when installed straight up in an L67.

so the vs cam you guys are talkin about does that have good bottom end. i guess my main deal is that the car will only be raced every other weekend and i do not want to lose any bottom end

So the 1.6 rr ZZP sells are smaller ratio that most of us have stock. Good to know.

Since they are aluminium they'll have no deflection and will make more power than a stock rocker with someone who is heavily modded.

XP cam also like the turbo cars too :D
