obama care..

At work lastnight quality and myself was discussing insurance prices going up from $200 a month to $300 a month (because the company are greedy punks) the discussion turned to Obama care..

Now why the help would they make it so you either have insurance or you get fined $200? If you don't pay the fine you get thrown in jail..how much sense does that make??? The way I see it, if you can't afford insurance then how can you afford the fine? I have a feeling that more than a few people are gonna be going to jail.

What are your thoughts on this? And.....

Sounds kinda like car insurance. You have to have it and if you dont you get fined. Just the world we live in these days.

Jail sounds good on paper, but not somewhere to be. Yeah I've heard about the FEMA camps and the bags and the billions of coffins they have stored all over. The underground city they are building, preparing themselves for the end war.

Three things.

1. Car insurance is not required by federal law.
2. Car insurance is not required in evert state
3. When car insurance is required, you are only required to have liability. You are NOT required to cover yourself.

The two subjects are completely different.

In Ohio, the state minimum is liability only, and there's a cap on that liability...when I got rear ended last year, it pushed me into the car in front of me (I was stopped, she was doing around 40 at impact, so it's NOT that I was stopped too close to the trailblazer in front of me...I could see the TB tires on the road). Driver at fault had a state minimum plan, and it didn't even cover the damage to my car, let alone the damage to the trailblazer...luckily, I had handled this through my insurance as we weren't even sure she HAD insurance at the time (which would have been better). All told, I got everything except about $300 of my deductible back. If she hadn't been insured, I would have gotten my full deductible back because my "non-insured driver" coverage would have kicked in.

There is a tax penalty for not enrolling in your employer's health care plan. Currently, the tax penalty is a smaller dollar amount than paying for the plan it's self. The penalty is income based obviously, and I think lowest percentage right now is 2.5%. This penalty will continue to climb, and eventually the coin will flip. Nobody will be going to jail over any of this though, the IRS will not be able to criminally charge anyone for not paying the tax penalty. The most they will be able to do is sue you.

Are you 100% about the penalty for not enrolling? My company gives us $75 a week if we decline coverage.

Yes you are going to be penalized if you don't enroll in health insurance. 100% sure. That's one of the biggest issues with this crap. Its unconstitutional to be penalized though, but they get away with it by calling it a tax.
