You could put the filter in the fenderwell.
As is, you should notice better MPG, and less power in the city/low speeds.
technically there aint much cold air there. It should be extended into the front fender to grab "cold air"
Your intake is fine.
Its technically not a "Cold Air" intake, because it is not in the fender to grab the cold outside air or covered with a heat shield to protect it from engine heat.
You wont see any more "gains" with a Cold Air Intake compared to your Hot Air Intake you have now. 90% of people on this forum run a Hot Air Intake because it's very simple, cheap, and effective.
Should i take the stock rubber garmet thing off and just drill a hole for the sensor
That's what I would do.
And keep this in mind, the closer the filter is to the Throttle Body, the louder the Blower whine.
You do not even need the sensor.
You have a few options:
1: Put cone on TB and leave sensor out.
2: Put cone on TB and just put sensor basically inside filter. (In between filter and TB)
3: Remove stock intake tubing, put the PCV piping you have on TB, drill hole for IAT. - (Recommended route).
Okay will do that. But is the whine gonna be noticeably louder by removing stock baffled partYou can leave the sensor out, I know people that run without it and have zero problems, but personally I have never done it.
It takes 2 seconds to drill a hole for the IAT.
Noticeably? Eh, maybe.
Will it be louder? Yes. But not by A LOT.
There is plenty of ways to get the blower louder, and an intake is a good place to start.
What other pretty simple things can i do too make it louder.
