Why did I come to GPF? This is why...

it is.
but techincally the LS2 parts bolt on to an LS1. so i dont see why an ls1 with bolt ons cant make more than 360 wheel.

odd, my friend made 320 to the wheels on his 2000 LS1 TA with dronemaster exhaust.
maybe the dynos are readin high around here.
i would consider an LS2 intake with 90mm TB a bolt on.

And it made the LS1 put out 320 not more then 360... Intake is a bolt on, yes. My point is you can't take the "bolt on's" off the LS2 motor, bolt them in an LS1 and get the same numbers. To get 50+hp outcome from a bolt on you'll need NO2. LOL

In 01-02 Fbodies were frankencars anyway because they were phasing out. GM did not put anyting other then LS1's in fbodies, BUT you can find some with the LS6 blocks ;) almost all of them had the LS6 intakes from the factory, still rated at factory hp. Your friends car being a '00 model, it's all LS1.

Bolt on's. Where does the line stop per person on what's considered bolt on and what's considered engine upgrade? LOL Swapping 243 heads on a LS1 a bolt on? I always consider "bolt on's" as CAI/HAI, exhaust, pulleys, NO2, "simple" stuff.... intakes and TB's on the LS motors are pretty simple to swap around.

And I'm playing nice, I might learn something new!!! LOL

I think you hit every point on why I own a V6, insurance would be ridiculous, gas would always be non-existent, parents said no V8 for first car, and an 8 is still out of my price range five years later

I realize this post is a week old, but if you really think you are going to get better fuel mileage out of a boosted 3.8 than you would out of a stock/lightly modded LS1 then you have some serious research to do.

yeah, but now I have the explorer at the same time so fuel economy on the bird is not really a concern to me anymore. I don't want an 8 anyway. My car is my baby with 54k miles. to get a T/A with that same mileage would be crazy price-wise

my question is why he didn't go to full throttle v6 where 90% is v6 fbodies w/ boost

At the time, didn't know full throttle was around. Every other forum I had been on that involved f-bodies laughed me away for wanting to boost a v6 and/or not having bought a V8 in the first place
