Re: Just a Topaz Gold Metalic GTP
Nice relaxing weekend other than trying to figure out why my AC was acting up all week. When turning on the AC, it would blow kinda cold from the passenger side and warm from the driver side.
Friday, went to the Junkyard and after a quick call to SteveGTX(thanks bro) I had the knowledge to remove the driver side blend door actuator. Just so happened that the 98 GT I was robbing parts off of had dual climate AC, so I grabbed the AC control unit also. Got both for $30.
Saturday, I worked on replacing the driver door actuator and the AC control unit. Figured out that the door actuator was bad and glad I had replaced it. Still had the existing problem though.
Sunday, I went to the on post shop and told them I needed their AC service, which included recovery, vacuum, pressure test and recharge. So the car passed all the test and I found out that the AC system was low on freon. After getting completed, fired up the car and.....no AC!!! The AC clutch didn't even engage. WTF!!!
So, the shop tech and me looked some fuses over and checked a relay. Then I thought, maybe I should put the old AC control unit back in. Five minutes later after swapping back to the original unit, the AC was blowing ice cubes.
JY parts- $30
AC Service- $39
Total- $69
I'm only out $15 so far cause of the bad AC control unit, going to see if the JY will do something about that.
Old Driver door actuator, The replacement one had metal parts(score)
Original AC Control unit in my hand, now back in the car LOL.
Just for fun, I noticed that the 04+ seats make a nice table for my tools while working on the interior.
