2001 GTP Special Edition Bonneville GXP Rims

I've done nothing to the body except clean it and wax it so far. I've only added my HD head unit, front speakers, and amp and sub to the interior. Under the hood I've changed the valve cover gaskets, put aluminum coolant elbows in, cone intake, ZZP 1.0 PCM, Plugs N' Wires (AL 104's) and a 3.4 Supercharger pulley. Underneath I had a catted downpipe installed when I had the resonator cut out and replaced with a straight pipe.

Re: 2001 GTP Special Edition (if anyone cares)

looks good. how much kr is that thing putting out?

Re: 2001 GTP Special Edition (if anyone cares)

Well, I used the torque app with the knock plug in and it said it didn't have any. If its knocking or doing anything to compensate I don't notice it. I only put 93 in it. The first day after the drop it wasn't happy if you nailed it at highway speed. It was fine from a stop, though. So I put the colder plugs in it and it was happy after that and hasn't given me any boost problems whatsoever.

Re: 2001 GTP Special Edition (if anyone cares)

So, basically a U-bend delete, colder plugs, aluminum coolant elbows, ZZP tune and you dropped you pulley to a 3.4 with no knock?

Have you a rainy day savings account? Just curious...
: D

Maybe u got a factory freak or that pure 93 octane but as a word of advice please don't rely on on the tourqe app for knock or other critical engine functions. Tourqe via Bluetooth do sent have the bandwidth to transmit data at the rate a real scanner can.

obviously the elbows have nothing to do with it--if you think i was listing that as a mod......just mentioning what i've done to it. appreciate the sarcasm, though:th_thumbsup-wink:

there may be something to the factory freak. i can't explain it but i've driven many gtp and this my third one i've owned. it was by the far the best and smoothest running (as far as power) and it was bone stock--even had a leak at the stock converter when i bought it. the body needs some work but its not rusted out so with how it ran i figured it was worth fixing up. my wife thought i was crazy because it has paint faded bumpers, a dented fender, chips and scratches, etc. but I wanted it because of how it ran. and it had a rebuilt transmission with about 2 k on it.

i know bluetooth is slower than wifi or a hard connection but bytes from a car pcm don't seem to me to require high bandwidth. i mean, yeah, maybe its too good to be true, but i didn't think it was because of bandwidth problems. the phone is like a foot or two away from it.

the pcm is supposed to help keep the knock down, as described by zzp. i've also read more than a few people not having headers and running a 3.4 as well as the vendor recommendations.

so far so good. i really figured if something isn't right you'd be able to tell anyway (like before i put the plugs on it). but maybe not. i don't drive it hard very much at all and if i do its up to temp and is warmed up. i'm more worried about trashing the transmission or tearing up the axles than i am about the engine at this point. it just hasn't given me any problems and i've done a lot of reading before i gave it a shot.

Re: 2001 GTP Special Edition (if anyone cares)

My torque app works just fine. Stock car with a plugged fuel filter and a vac leak I was seeing 4* of KR with torque.

Re: 2001 GTP Special Edition (if anyone cares)

I have 0kr and i did poly upper and lower mounts and 93 with a intake so the factory freaks are put there and. I have a aeroforce

every other parameter it was reading was correct and in real time. i don't see why engine knock would present a problem for it. we're not talking about transmitting video files or something.....its simple number bytes. its not like the car has a quad core processor in it something to handle a bunch of video rendering or processing sound plug ins. the computer is 13 years old, its a dinosaur. point is, simple computer for simple processing. therefore, not much bandwidth to send.

Re: 2001 GTP Special Edition (if anyone cares)

Vac leak and plugged fuel filter were causing KR, after I fixed the vac leak and put in a new fuel filter I had 0* of KR till the engine blew up a day later.......

Re: 2001 GTP Special Edition (if anyone cares)

hello fellow 01 special edition owner, congratulations on the awesome paint peel we both share!

Re: 2001 GTP Special Edition (if anyone cares)

i had less then 1 degree of kr stock. its not a factory freak, its common.

bummer man. no blow up for me yet. but you can bet if it happens......i won't tell anyone about it:th_winking:

the front bumper kills me. i can live with the back the way it is but the front one.....i want to get to a pick n pull see if i can find one and a fender. the hood isn't very good shape either but it has those scoops on it that i like so i'm stuck there.

Re: 2001 GTP Special Edition (if anyone cares)

i got some 18's off cl for 220 because i had at least one bent rim and another rim was bent where the weights go on. they were getting rusty as well. i plasti dipped the door trim
where the b pillar is and dipped the hood scoops and the top and front side of the spoiler because of the paint peel. also did a part of the back bumper but i'm not sure if i can come up with a design for it. and vht'd the tails. they didnt turn out super smooth but i kinda think they fit better on this car being a little rough. thinking about how to dip the front bumper. or get a bra. the hood is kinda beat up. i thought about dipping a bra and running some sticker black pinstripes around it to divide and maybe protect the edges so they dont peel off. i need to find a fender, though.
