well... i saw a black sti with gold wheels today. really clean. the sti badging was outlined in pink. i got a little chuckle out of that. well he just happend to be going the same way i was soooo i figred id see where i stand on the food chain. i layed in it going around him to see if he would bite. and he did :D well the next passing zone came up (3 lane road-2 lanes in the direction we where going) and i saw his front end drop which im guessing he downshifted. he then got in the next lane and just waited for me to go about a carlength behind me. soooo i nailed it at about 65 :) the supercharger screamed loudly threw 2nd and shifted to third at 80 (3.29 gears) great.... third gear :th_yawning: welp it took him till 100 to come around me at an okay rate, not running away but he was pulling slowly. as he was going by i was looking over with a grin and was going to give him a thumbs up. i could just make out threw his tinted windows he was flicking me off  well i agian got a chuckle out of his reaction, made the next left and went home.

all this was up hill also. he had aftermarket exhaust, which i must say it sounded pretty good, kind of meaty for a 4cyl, not really ricer sounding. but i heard no blow off valve or even his turbo, his car was pretty loud tho. so im asuming for the most part it was stock. i knew i would lose but i faired better than i though i would. all in all just fun to get to run something fast :th_thumbsup-wink:

Blow-off valves do not go well with STI's, so do not use that to judge modifications...although I guess if you did hear one you would know that the driver did not know what they were doing!

If he was mostly stock it is not a huge surprise that you gave him a good run. A lot of the better ¼-mile times come out of those things when the driver knows how to launch; they can cut 1.6x with with good suspension and driver. Getting him from a "roll" negates that jump-start.

the exhaust usually always sounds good on sti's. they always have a veryu low pitch which actually sounds pretty nice. but overall its usually some ricer with no class driving. thats why he flipped u the bird

Yep a boy ricer in a grown man's car. The 3.29's probably helped you, compared to the 2.93's in my gp. My cousin is a Subaru master tech, he said that Subaru has a more agressive catback exhaust thats an option but isn't normaly asked about due to the price. The boxer motor's exhaust makes me think of a chainsaw on steroids lol, but they do sound pretty good with a nice setup.

Nice run i had a run with one awhile back from a roll an was severely walked but all i had was an intake an he had a bunch under the hood. Was fun though but he was an a** too. Later i found out it wasn't even his car it was daddy's. An i have to say i love the sound of a subaru with a nice exhaust set up. I would love to have one just so i could hear the sound of that boxer motor every day.

yea i give it credit for the AWD moving out that good at those speeds. i finally got my headers on and the way it runs now he might not have ran me down by the time it went to one lane. about50 more yards. the headers opened up the top end so much better.
