Big 3 upgrade help

Okay guys I have searched on a few grand prix forums and have found nothing but hopefully someone here can help me... I ran the ground wires for the big 3(4 gauge) one to the strut tower and the other to a ground bolt on the alt. once I ran the power wire from the alt to the battery(4 gauge) and started the car it seemed like it was looping the power or something because it wouldn't turnover on the first click, it would take another click to turnover. I removed the power wire and it had no problem starting right away. Am I doing something wrong?

the ground needs to be connected to the battery, a ground needs to be onthe motor or alt case, and one from the alt power to the battery.
and 4 gauge? really? go bigger bro.

you sure are.

one wire from alt stud and bolt, to the battery pos, or the top of the fuse box bolt.

a ground from the battery to the engine. back of the alt bracket is used a lot.

and then a new ground from the engine to the body of the car.

search, big 3 upgrade "grandprixforums" on google, then hit images.

I did battery negative to alternator bracket, and then to the chassis. and from the alternator charging spot to the batt positive

im not going any bigger than 4 gauge right now because theres no need for it. true 4 gauge wire is plently to handle the amount of power I need, I don't have a crazy system and anything bigger would be overkill.

There's no such thing as overkill on wire size

All 0 gauge here **** is cheap on ebay

Hell I got me 20 feet of zero gauge for 4 bucks a foot locally. Its not all that expensive and if our gonna do something...do it right. I also have all new battery terminal connectors that solder on. In my opinion and research I've done ya should go bigger wire and spend the extra couple bucks

Even knu konceptz which is the biggest and best I've seen in person is like $4 a foot. Best bang for the buck is welding cable. Go to your local welding place and see. I bet it's like $2 a foot
