Subs Hit Randomly?!

hey guys it seems im always on here asking questions... but ever since i upgraded my subs a little while back it seems (i kinda remember them doing it before but i fixed the problem somehow dont remember how except possibly just removing paint from under ground connection) but anyways recently my subs have been hitting randomly like the music will be paused or muted and you get boom boom boom boom usually they are short small and decently quiet like a grumble but one time it was a single BOOM out of no where and i briefly thought i got shot at or something haha but i did some research online and they all said it was a bad ground connection so i took my ground that i had originally connected under my back seat to the metal down there and move it to my strut tower. this made it happen a little less frequently however it didnt stop it so i took it off ground off the paint some more and even re-crimped the connection thinking maybe it was slighty loose. as far as details on my set up i have:

pioneer avh-p1400dvd headunit
knukonceptz 4gauge wiring (hardly fits in amp spot)
hifonics brutus brz1200.1d d-class mono block 1200 watts rms at 1 ohm
and 2 12" Pioneer TS-W309D4 dual coil 4 ohms 400w rms each

but like i said i moved the ground to the strut tower and still have the problem, the only other thing i can think of is i have the ground running by the rcas briefly and i know rcas and powers cause problems. i also tried unplugging the rcas and the thumping still occured leaving me to believe its not a blown pico fuse

If you have a dmm check voltage when it happens at amp, or maybe a tinsel lead broke and your ohm load is changing, either way ill help

you guys think its the amp? i thought it could be and thought it was still under warranty... i went back and looked on amazon to see if it was still under the one year warranty and i purchased it march 7, 2012. that made me pretty mad im ten days off.

i didnt say anything about it being the amp, im saying check the obvious, voltage drop, ohm load changing(lower ohm more watts).

check the voltage, if it checks out unplug the speakers. check the ohm load on each report back

umm how exactly would i do that..? im not great with a dmm, ive used it before following instructions but thats it ...sadly i also broke my dmm somehow two weeks ago by trying to use it and switched it the wrong way now whenever its on no matter what setting it makes weird beeping noise and wont read anything so i need to get myself a new one..

mine did the same thing when the amp fried replace it and check the wires on the back of the sub pull it out the box and inspect the terminals

Completely off topic, but how do you like the TS-W309D4? I seen Best Buy had them on sale a couple weeks ago for $35.99. I thought about buying 2 for shiz and giggles. I'm currently running a single TS-W3002D2, and love it. But I concur with Teske man dude thing.... check your voltage drop and resistance. [h=1][/h]

I love them!!! By far the best subs I've found for the price range! And I'd hop on that deal in a heart beat! I got mine for $55 a piece off sonic electronix just a few months ago and even if you don't like em I'm sure you could sell em on Craigslist for $50 a piece easy

This may be a dumb question... But how exactly do you do that?
 
OK if you dmm is broke your gonna need one. But if you set the dmm to read OHMs you can take the reading of either speaker and see if there correct or not. YOur reading will depend on the ohm of the speaker.Unplug the speakers from the amp or speaker terminals. Put red to red bblack to black. The voltage to the amp is checked by putting the red to positive post on amp, and the black on the ground. Now turn it up and watch the voltage, if it ever dips under 12.4 your amp is most likley gonna be frying out soon. Mosfets dont like voltage drop and this creates alot of exxcess heat. all of a sudden youll get the magic smoke
 


I haven't forgot guys, however the subs have not done it in a few weeks sooo maybe that's a good thing..?
