my sunroof visor will not close, its stuck. it was open all the way and i tried to close it and was able to move it about 1-2in now its stuck. ive tried putting a lot of force on it and nothing. any ideas?

mine does this, i found that if you close the visor while closing the sunroof from fully open it will slide easily into place.

hrm ill have to try that. im affraid to try opening my sunroof as its winter and im affraid i wont be able to close it, i havent tried yet. im sure it will be fine tho.

What has happened is there is two plastic caps on the end of the slide rail for the visor near the back of the headliner. They are rivoted in one place and if you put too much force into opening it they will snap off. Then the end of the sun visor has a lip on it will catch and you wont be able to get it back up. You can try to push up on the headliner near the back of the car maybe 2/3 the way back while you pull the slide closed and dont push it all the way back next time.

You could also take off the sunroof glass. It's not that hard. Put the sunroof up and there are I think 6 star headed screws? Three on each side. You will see them on the mechanism that brings the glass up. Unscrew it from the inside of the car. Once you have all 6 off go from the outside, and then carefully just lift the glass out of place. Then you can look down and see those metal/plastic tabs that keep it on track. You can probably see what the problem is after that. I would suggest doing it in a garage though since it is cold/snowing outside. Good Luck!

great info guys thanks! yeah i insulated my garage including the door, so it stays decent in there, if its too cold i turn on the 55k btu propane heater, tho it actually gets too hot with that thing on.

hrm i tried messing with it last night. sunroof works great btw. could not get it to close. so i need to try to close it while im closing the sunroof? i dont think i did that. ill see if i can try again, if not i may have to remove the sunroof if its not that hard.

I cant stand being in a car with the sunroof visor closed. But thats just me.

yeah i hear you, if i get it working ill probably wont use it still. i really just want it for my baby in the back for in the summer. when its just me it will never be closed.

Thanks so much! Your advice saved me a heck of a lot of time and/or expense.

Apologize for the bump...

My visor is stuck back, but not back so far that the handle isn't visible. Tried pushing up 2/3 the way back and pulling forward but doesn't seem to work.

Is removing the headliner and doing it by hand a viable option?

probably but its a pain to remove the headliner. someone posted that you can remove the sunroof glass with 6 screws and get to it that way. havent tried it yet myself, i never block the sunroof anyway so i havent cared much.
