I'm having some problems with my 01 Grand Prix. The front end is roaring when I get up to about 20mph it will do it from here on out to about 70, then the noises of the highway and such drown it out. It's not really a vibration because you can't feel it in the steering wheel or anything. The best way to put it is...it sounds like I'm driving down the road in a jacked up truck with super swampers; that annoying little hummmmmmmm!! I think the tires are ok. That's what I thought it was at first but I had them checked and rotated and they're fine. Let me know what you think!

My first thought would be a wheel bearing.

I jacked the car up to see if the wheel had any play in it and it didn't at all. I tried to move it side to side and up and down, but it had no play at all. If it was a wheel bearing, wouldn't it move around some? At least that was the case when I had a 00 GMC 1500 4x4.

I'm pretty sure its going to be your wheel bearing. If you leave it for much longer its going to start to have some play in it.

not necessarily. I had a wheel bearing with a hum that lasted for months and still felt OK with no play in it. I replaced the wheel bearing and noise gone...

Thank you all for confirming what I had thought already. Hopefully I'll have the time to replace it soon and see if that helps.
