Ok, so since I bought this car its been sort of a nightmare of fixing screw ups from the previous owner...it needed a radiator when I bought it, so, I bought it, put it in, went to add coolant, and it wouldnt take more than about a gallon, and it was full...which leads me to believe something is wrong with the radiator, since, even the radiator along should hold more than that, maybe its just filling one tank and not going through the core of the radiator to fill it? Well...anyway, went ahead and started it, let it sit at idle about 15 mins, was about to get about another gallon or so in, and no more will fit even after running it for awhile again...pulling off the upper hose, there is no coolant, and, no matter when you pull the cap (after just running, or, was a time it sat for months and I pulled the radiator cap to check and see if the level had gone down any), coolant will SHOOT out, making me thing maybe its only filling the one tank on the radiator, and for some reason also not making it past the water pump and the pump is just pressurizing what is in between??

Anyone else have this problem? Not sure exactly where to start...in one way it leans me toward a problem with the radiator, considering it wouldnt take much coolant, and it should itself take more than that, but, then it also seems like no coolant is getting past the water pump? Defiantly an odd situation. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

Your thermostat is sealling a little too well. Pull the T stat neck and t stat. Fill through the stat hole, then seal it up, and fill through the rad.
I drink..so consider that when reading my posts.

Curious how that explains it not flowing the rest of the way through the radiator? Or the water pump?? Only thing I could think of, never heard of that problem before lol, but, maybe its not allowing a "vent" I guess you could say to "pull" the coolant through? Best way I can think of to describe the idea that popped into my head.... defiantly sounds like a long shot, never heard of any sort of gasket sealing "too well"...lol. Mind explaining the reasoning behind that??

YOu suggested the other tank wasn't filling. I assume on a new rad that it is..

I'm BillBoost, you can trust me and do what I suggest for a quick easy time or you can question it and continue looking for answers. It's no worries to me, I am fairly confident that you don't have any radiator issue, you simply have an air bubble/thermo trapping it and what I suggest will correct the problem.

I'd go with what bill says. I think he's worked on one or two of these cars...

just for kicks and grins... did you make sure they didn't have a plug blocking the upper opening on the new radiator? I just instaled a new radiator(in a jeep) from napa and for some reason they ship them with block-off plugs in all the openings...

the rad is probably shipped with nitrogen in it to prevent corrosion. hence the plugs.
