Projector Fog Light Retro

2003 SSEi

New member
Ok so im putting all of the pics of my Retro, into one thread. I have 40+ pics that i took during the process.......

Guys, not my first for the first with the TRS products. Loving it so far.

I already have 6 projectors on my car, but the Foglight projectors arnt cutting it. They are a blazer foglight that came OEM on many of the GM Cars and trucks.

There output is......ok good cutoff, but crappy output, could be the DDM HID kit thats currently in them.

The other issue that i have is the space. my intercooler is in the way of going any deeper than the bumper mounting points. Here is a pic for reference (old headlight setup)

So i picked up a set of the Mori, matchbox projectors with the idea to mount them in the OEM housings instead of the current where the projector is exposed.

Problem 1 is that is have limited room
Problem 2 is that the OEL fog light is very shallow.

So i chose the Morimoto Matchbox projectors for this

so that being said
this is all i have to work with.

IMG_1934.jpg

so sugery began on the light

IMG_1918.jpg

and the light fit in

IMG_1923.jpg

Just squeaking it in

IMG_1926.jpg

Because of the depth i had to modify the Micro gatling

IMG_1919.jpg

IMG_1921.jpg

all together

IMG_1924.jpg

IMG_1926.jpg

One issue i will encounter is the stupid diffuser that GM had to use

IMG_1927.jpg

IMG_1928.jpg

IMG_1929.jpg

Painted all of the soleniod and the shield black

IMG_2005.jpg

painted all of the orignal reflector housing Flat Black

IMG_2007.jpg

Got some CCFL's on the Black Friday Sales and Painted the mini GG shrouds a Metallic Dark Silver to match the rest of the theme

IMG_2027.jpg

Installed like they will be when in the housing

IMG_2028.jpg

Everything assembled, no lense

IMG_2030.jpg

IMG_2031.jpg

IMG_2034.jpg

IMG_2036.jpg

and the lense installed..

IMG_2037.jpg

IMG_2040.jpg

Now i did modify these so there is no step, but a flare up on the right side. So its not a totally flat cutoff, but there is a really nice band that these projectors will give off.

So on to the install.

So here is the car with the old fogs removed....you can see that i have a space problem, and that the mount for the fog light attaches to the bumper

IMG_2080.jpg

IMG_2081.jpg

so i had to clear a path for the bulb clip and part of the bulb to pass through. I have enough room for the rest of the projector

IMG_2082.jpg

IMG_2083.jpg

as shown is the old DDM ballast that was installed on the bumper support

IMG_2085.jpg

and the new 3five mounted

IMG_2088.jpg

SOOOO finally Bumper back on and lights mounted (passenger side ****ed sideways before adjustment

IMG_2093.jpg

with the CCFL's on

IMG_2094.jpg

IMG_2097.jpg

and the output, these are unadjusted, and unaimed.

for the example of width, that is a Airplane Hanger Door, Approx 60 Feet wide

IMG_2100.jpg

and my Parents Garage doors, the one at my house is Green....

So there you have it, the blow by blow on the install

the Old Fogs i had retro'd were the Blazers, These blow them out of the water.....and they are Bi-xenon, meaning they have a High and Low Beam function
