I am stock 01 GTP he has a CAI. The only thing that scares me is he has a 4.6 NorthStar V8 with 300hp and 300lb/ft

When I was looking for a car 6 months ago, I looked at and drove an 02 STS and a 01 GTP. I awalys liked the STS and was impresssed by the hp and tq ratings, when I test drove the caddy I beat the piss out of it, I floored it multiple times and was surprised at how under powered it was. next day I drove the 01 GTP, now it's in my driveway. No comparison in power, GTP will rip the STS apart.
 


I got slaughtered by my buddys cts-v I knew i would but I just wanted to see that thing run and it did like a raped ape. I wont even touch it till after my rebuild
 
I have had a 2002 sts the motor was junk like all the northstars it will prob blow up while racing! lol but they are fast i would pull a marty mcfly and go in reverse

junk? hmmmm what other motor do you know off the top of your head that last for 2 years with blown headgaskets and never smokes? and i wish 4t80s fit in gtps
 
my buddy has a north star with over 300k and the stock tranny. still in pretty good shape. hes step dad has the sts and he got on it while i was behind him, it moves out pretty good, i think i would have had him tho :)
 
doesn't GM claim you can drive with no oil pressure for a certain distance with a North star?
 


and thaat video posted is an older sts and who really knows whats done to either car, but topend in a 2000+ n* is faster than any 3.8 supercharged car. lets see 371 gears and a dohc motor hmmm not meant for a stock gtp to win hell i can find a lt1 z/28 losing to an eldog on youtube and can a stock gtp hold it down with a sho?

said part is gtps are off the line cars so why are the big boats taking the off the line cars off the line? im not bragging or on caddys side just telling you like it is before you get your hopes up lol, caddies will play with you and when you think you've won fly by you like where the other power came from. i've been in the car with my bf when he use to play around with 745s and mustangs and he'll give them the jump and laugh at their face whne we float right by them. he said he beat a gxp gp on the highway and i believe him, told me a story bout a imp ss 5.3 having him off the line by a nose but reeled it in by 45 and dude rolled down the window and asked him why is his car growling lol, and tried it again and had the same results. so i dont know maybe he had a factory freak, or them dohc just have good gearing and topend. but i'll take a 3.8 over a n* they get costly when its time to go to the shop.

and no thats the coolant^^^

is it the coolant that can drain out and the engine still goes a short distance before it grenades?
 
North stars do have there issues. But most of them are great motors. It always made me smile to think GM had a 4.6l motor making 300Hp when ford was only geting 260hp out of theres.
